Slow burn recs for a picky reader?

hi guys, i’m trying to get back into reading so i’m wondering if anyone has any book recs that fit these descriptors?

looking for:

-a true slow burn with lotssss of will they won’t they, tension, maybe mind games. i’m okay with enemies to lovers or friends to lovers etc

-deep psychological explorations of characters, character driven, especially if there are some morally gray traits or flaws that get explored

-preferably a male character that is smart, i don’t really love the himbo or golden retriever tropes. stern is okay but id prefer if it didn’t stray too far into the alpha male archetype

-i would love if the plot had either high fantasy, sci fi or possibly dark mystery elements

-banter !!!!

i tried to post this on r/romancebooks but i dont have enough karma sadly,,

spice level isn’t something i care about so i don’t really have a preference, as long as it’s not like literally constant. thank you to anyone who took the time to read my post ! ^^

really really needing encouragement

hi everyone, i’m on day 18 of lex 5 mg for anxiety and OCD. i’ve never been on any medication before and im really needing encouragement. the first week was hell, extreme nausea and i barely ate along with INTENSE anxiety and panic attacks. the second week i had less nausea, but still anxiety. this week my anxiety has been back to extremely high and the nausea is returning as well. i am so frustrated because it’s genuinely making my problems worse and i just want to find some relief. should i stay on? how long did it take for you all before you felt relief from anxiety and did others feel the same way? i am so tired and my family has been adding to my stress because they are against medication and don’t believe in anxiety.

edit: btw i am 18F and have struggled with a vomit phobia and intense anxiety since i was around 9-10 years old. i recently started therapy as well but have been to anxious to do a lot of my exercises

Hi everyone, i’m 18 and about to start my first college semester, for context i have been interested in both medicine and law for as long as i can remember. only taking in medicine or law related media, spending hours researching legal cases and memorizing every bone of the body, etc.

I’m currently on a biology track because i’m doing two years at a community college in order to get a lot of my pre-med prereqs out of the way as soon as possible. i’m completely torn, though, because i still love law and have no idea which path i should go down.

i love anatomy, hands on care, medical procedures, bio and chem, but i also am extremely interested in legal proceedings, arguing (lol), quick thinking, literature, etc. obviously the idea of helping people comes with both careers, which i enjoy ! admittedly i don’t love math, but i also don’t love history, so not even the associated elective fields help me.

i have experience in both observing court proceedings and medical procedures irl, and unfortunately they have not really swayed me. seeking some kind of advice, anything would really help me. i’m just trying to decide soon so i can plan my extracurriculars. thank you !

feel free to ask anything you need
