Built a free tool to check if a VIN has Copart/IAAI auction history (with photos) before you bid

Hey everyone — I’ve been lurking here for a while and figured I’d share something I built, fully transparent that I’m the one who made it (not trying to sneak in an ad).

I kept running into the same problem when checking cars before buying: CARFAX tells you accidents and owners, but it doesn’t tell you if the car was ever sold at a Copart or IAAI auction — which is exactly the thing a lot of us actually care about.

So I built thevincenter.com The auction history check is free — you put in a VIN and it tells you if there’s a match, with sale price, damage type, and photos from the lot. Full CARFAX reports are also available for $3.99 if you need the deeper history too.
Not trying to oversell it — genuinely just want to know if this is useful to people who actually buy at auction for a living, and what’s missing. Happy to answer any questions.

What would you charge for this laser cleaning job?

I’m new to the laser cleaning business and I’m looking to learn from those with more experience.
I have a job cleaning the log walls in an indoor pool room (22’ × 48’, knotty pine, vaulted ceiling).
What would you charge for a project like this, and how do you usually price these jobs? Hourly, per square foot, or a flat rate?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Start of laser cleaning business

Hello everyone,

About 3 months ago I saw someone doing laser cleaning and became very interested in it. After doing some research, I found a supplier in China and purchased a machine. I just received it, but it arrived without a power plug. The supplier is telling me it requires a dedicated 20A 110V outlet, but most homes, workshops, and small businesses I visit only seem to have standard 15A 110V outlets.

For those of you already in the laser cleaning business, what setup are you using? I purchased a 300W laser cleaning machine.

I live in Michigan, USA. Will I need business insurance? If so, are there any insurance companies or brokers you would recommend for laser cleaning businesses?

Besides the laser machine itself, what other equipment would you consider essential or highly recommended?

I’m also curious about how you handle power on job sites. Do your customers usually provide electricity, or do you mostly run your machines from generators?

I recently launched my website and have already started receiving inquiries:

IronBeamLaserCleaning.com

Any advice for someone just getting started would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
