MLP Gas

Hey guys, currently doing my Gas qualification, its a year long roughly.

Just curious what you all think with how things are going fuel wise in the UK.

Do you think there will be a shortage of Gas Engineers in the UK? Will we ever see Gas being quickly phased out as a heating source?

Are you better learning Air Source heat pumps in the future?

Paying Down Those Debts

Hi all,

On a debt free journey at present - Still a good way to go although im down £13,000 roughly.

I have two loans remaining, one with just over £5000 & the other with £12,000.. same interest rate. Paying £269 & £299 respectively.

Am I the only one that thinks this toward loans / credit cards.. when I get rid of the £5,000 debt and free up £269 (which will be going straight on the £12k) per month it will feel like I've got a £269 pay rise per month ?

Its a nice way I motivate myself, when all the debt is gone it will be a further £299 payrise. Maybe im the only one who views it like that.

Apprenticeship Advice

Hi there, sorry for the word vomit.. I hope im posting this in the right place.

Last October 2025 I started out working as an apprentice plumber I was paired with someone with a wealth of experience & felt like I was picking things up pretty quickly.

Fast forward 10 months I have been given a Van & im by myself I would say 80% of the time now. There are days where I will get so frustrated when there are things I haven't seen or done & im trying to work it out myself.

The main source of annoyance is I dont feel like I am learning much anymore, I feel I am being sent on my own alot because most of the things I will figure out how to do it albeit a bit slow.

After one year im unsure if im falling behind in what would be a normal apprenticeship. Further to this; im beginning my Domestic Gas Qualification shortly.

After one year I can confidently

Hang Radiators

Fit Shower Valves

Toilets

Vanity Units / Sinks

First fix most bathrooms / kitchen plumbing

Core holes for walls

Hang boilers and do basic pipework i.e copper bending

F.Y.I, I really love the company im working for, my boss is a legend & the other plumber I was always paired with is like family now, hes a gentleman.
