Textured surface, very hard, about 15cm long, partly buried (England)

None of the roots in the pic seem to be attached to the things. I’ve wondered if they might be some kind of calcified fungus, or a coconut, or something man-made. I haven’t really handled them much, but the surface does feel made rather than organic.

Could these be actual mushrooms?

(Normal sized hand and child sized trowel for scale)

No idea what these are. I’m in England, and I thought they might be some sort of stone sculpture or something- the outside feels *really* hard, like stone. I haven’t tried to use too much force, but they withstand a solid ding with a trowel. There seems to be some sort of stem at one end of one, maybe? Anyone any idea if they’re a mushroom?
