My house backs up to the L.A. river. With all this talk of a super el nino I'm wondering if there's a chance the river will overflow.

The FEMA flood map for my address says "1% chance flood hazard contained in channel, Zone A" which seems a bit confusing to me. Does that mean the 1% flood chance will not leave the channel?

Does anyone who lives along the L.A. river have a separate flood insurance policy?
