How is your mental health? ☀️

How has your mental health been since you got pregnant?

I have been so even-keeled and just.. happy. Honestly before pregnancy I’d have mood swings every few weeks and it was pretty awful. Since getting pregnant, the mood swings have mostly just disappeared. I’m in an overall good mood almost all the time. I mean, I definitely have anxiety about the pregnancy and get stressed with work situations sometimes etc - but in general it feels like I’m in my own bubble of happiness right now.

But everyone is different. How is yours? 🙏🏽

(Just know that feeling any sort of way is okay)

Starting new job when pregnant [ab]

Pros and cons of starting a new job when in early stages of pregnancy?
I was self employed for a couple years and it gets stressful. Wondering if a low stress ish job would be a good idea. Would also ensure some maternity EI for when baby comes. I’m still early, first trimester.

13 weeks and finally went for a mountain hike!

First trimester was horrible and I had zero energy, even for short gym sessions. But slowly the energy is coming back! I’m at 13 weeks and finally headed to the mountains (we are by the Canadian Rockies) for a nice Fall hike. It felt amazing to finally feel like myself, move my body and take in the fresh mountain air!
It was a moderate level hike so I am very proud of myself. I mean, typically I would find this very easy but after first trimester struggles this feels great.

If you’re fighting first trimester exhaustion too, IT GETS BETTER!!

Spa holiday?

Is there such a thing where a resort has a daily spa thing included in their package? If so, where?

I want to go on a babymoon and want to spend my time eating and getting spa services.

Pulsating in my abdomen

So i have been feeling pulsating in my abdomen multiple times a day - and i am only 6 weeks pregnant.

Happens when lay down after walking, or I sit down to rest after doing something. (My heart rate has been elevated already, for the last few weeks, so even small things get me winded)

Like, I can literally watch my stomach pulsating!

It doesn’t last very long though, just a few mins.

I read up on it and it’s likely due to the aorta redirecting more blood flow to the uterus.

I checked this Reddit and saw some posts about this, but most of them were 30+ weeks. I don’t know if it’s normal to have it so early on??

( I have a doc visit next week and plan to ask.)

Just 6 weeks and I’m WINDED

I am only 6 weeks in, and honestly just a regular uphill walk is a STRUGGLE. The stairs in my house get me winded.
I was running moderately before my IVF cycle, and strength training very regularly. I was regularly hitting PBs. My strength is still ok, but my heart rate now is insane, and cardio now seems absolutely impossible.

I wonder if I’m imagining this all, or if that’s me gaslighting myself. I don’t want to push myself too hard without doctors giving me the green light.

Anyone else had horrible cardio during early pregnancy but okay strength still?

Telling certain family members

I just found out recently that our IVF cycle worked and I’m pregnant (yay!)

However, I’m just not sure how to tell family. My mother and my MIL both knew we were doing IVF so they are waiting to hear back about how it went.

I am ok to share with them - but I don’t love the idea of sharing with my brother in law or father in law. I find my BIL very immature and I don’t know if he will properly respond with support or make it sound like a joke. Same with my father in law. At 40, although I am active and fit, he had once said that we were too old now to have kids. So I don’t want him to make an inappropriate comment.

Anyone went through anything similar where you were more comfortable telling certain family members but not others?
