Unsure what to do about my internship and family travel plans

I need some advice about my internship.

I signed a four month internship agreement until the end of August. It's not a university requirement, I'm just doing it to gain experience.

The problem is that my family will most likely be travelling abroad for the entire month of August. The trip hasn't been booked yet, but they're definitely planning to go.

I'm not sure what the best approach is. Should I ask if I can take leave for the whole month? Should I ask if I can finish the internship at the end of July instead?

To be honest, I wouldn't mind finishing a month early because I feel like I've already learned a lot and I'm starting to feel burned out from the internship. But I'm worried that asking to end it early would come across as unprofessional or leave a bad impression. I dont even know if it's allowed.

My parents suggested that I extend the internship until November to make up for the time away, but I really don't want to do that. I'd much rather finish by the end of August if possible.

Also, should I discuss this with my manager first or go to HR?

I'd really appreciate any advice

Best tiramisu in kochi?

can anyone recommend a place in kochi that serves really good, authentic tiramisu?

I'd prefer one that's not made mostly with fresh cream and is closer to the traditional style but alcohol-free. Looking for something that actually tastes authentic and well made!

would you recommend a masters in hrm to someone not fully committed to hr?

i recently graduated with a bachelors in international business and im trying to decide on my next step for higher studies.

the issue is that im more interested in marketing than hr, although i don’t dislike hr. i just wouldn’t say im particularly passionate about it.

right now, i have an opportunity to do a masters in human resources management at a very well known and reputable university. the problem is that if i wanted to do a masters in management, marketing, or something similar, my family’s financial situation would likely limit me to lower ranked universities.

im struggling to figure out whether its worth investing the time and money into a specialised hr degree when im not sure if i want to build my career in hr long term. one of my concerns is career flexibility. from what i understand, hr is more specialised than degrees like management or an MBA, and im worried about limiting my future options if i later decide i want to move into another field.

the alternative would be taking a gap year, preparing for exams like gmat, and trying for masters in management or MBA programs. however, my parents aren’t very supportive of gap years and finances are already a concern.

for those working in hr or who have studied in hrm, would you recommend pursuing the hr masters because of the university’s reputation, or would it make more sense to wait and pursue a degree that’s more aligned with my interests even if it means taking a gap year and facing some uncertainty?

id really appreciate any advice, especially from people who have seen how hr careers evolve in terms of opportunities, salary growth, and flexibility.

"Nepo-hire' intern (F) with major anxiety. I've had zero work for a month due to IT issues and feel completely invisible. Help?

hey everyone,

ive been doing this internship at this company for a month now and I haven't got a single piece of proper work to do. I have to be in the office for 9 hours every day, and I literally just scroll on my laptop the entire time. the first few days I joined, the manager gave me an overview and taught me how things work there, so I was actually occupied with that. but after that, they never really gave me any work because we were waiting for me to get system access on the computer I was provided. since they have to get access from their global headquarters, it takes some time, and so I just kept waiting and waiting and waiting.

I still haven't got access yet. I keep messaging IT about it, and she just tells me that she's following up with the hq and that I'll get access soon. but regardless of that, they never give me any other work to do, even if it's completely obvious that i am just wasting my time. I really wonder if it's my problem that I'm not approaching my manager, or if he is purposely ignoring me.

the reason I'm not being so proactive brings me to another problem: I got this internship through my dad's connections, so I personally know a lot of the employees working here, especially in my own department as well as my manager. my dad is kind of a big and respected guy in the industry, so I'm honestly wondering if they are just afraid of me and find me hard to approach. or is it entirely my problem?

every day I just come and sit at my desk without asking for anything because it has become quite repetitive by now. the manager greets me when he comes into the room, but he doesn't assign me any work. is it just because I'm not asking him? isn't it obvious that i need something to do? I don't know if I should even ask him now either, because it has been so long of me not asking that it now would seem so out of the sudden.

to make it worse, I'm the only intern here so I have absolutely no one to talk to. everyone in my department consists of older, experienced men and I am the only young girl here, so I can't socialize with anyone or ask for help. I'm also very introverted and have anxiety, so I am very worried about this whole situation. I have to do this internship for 3 more months, so please help me - what should i do?

Can i get into kfupm master's program with a 3-year bachelor's degree?

I'm looking into applying for a master's at KFUPM (any one of the business/management programs), but I'm a bit confused about the bachelor's degree requirement.

I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Management Studies in international business from India, and I'm a Saudi resident. it's a 3-year degree, and the admission requirements mention a 4-year bachelor's degree.

has anyone here been admitted with a 3-year degree? or knows someone who has?

for context, my degree covered subjects like international business, foreign trade, Exim procedures & documentation, multinational business finance, cross cultural marketing, financial management, hrm, business strategy and business research methods.

ive already emailed admissions but haven't heard back yet, so i thought id ask here while waiting.

would appreciate any insights. thanks!
