Slow Processing while Tagging

Hi all, relatively new to Paperless ngx and looking for some advice.

I've noticed that as I sort documents and tag them, whether this be by adding tags, correspondents, document types or storage paths that on average, it takes a full second to process each document. I'm mostly relying on tags to sort my documents, and this is where I notice the issue the most.

Some tests confirmed that about 30 documents acquiring a single tag took about 30 seconds, 300 documents took a little under 5 minutes.

The main issue is that the screen prompt while waiting removes the ability to do anything else in Paperless until it finishes processing.

Does everybody have the exact same experience here, or is this not the norm?

I'm running Paperless on Portainer, on a Synology NAS DS423+ with 18GB of RAM.

Any help would be great, thanks.

Fusion 2.5g vs Opnsense

Hi all, I'm in the final stages of upgrading my home network, from an old ISP provided router, to a new gateway and newly installed access points for better speeds and more consistent wifi throughout the home.

My final decision is on the router / gateway, which I've decided on either:

- Fusion 2.5g which I assume would be a simple setup with controller included to overview my other Omada devices, including switch and ap's.

- Opnsense, runninf on something like a Sophos device, which I expect to be a bit more work to setup, similar price, open source and greater control. I'd need a hardware or selfhosted controller for the Omada management.

I don't mind tinkering, and am happy to learn anything I don't already know regarding the setup of either, that said, I do want a system that is dependable, something that just runs without having to constantly fixing issues. I'd like to think both are fairly stable in that sense. Two things I look forward to that I can't currently do on my ISP provided router are VLAN's for splitting traffic, and VPN to access NAS services remotely, replacing Tailscale.

I'm likely appealing to a small group of people here, but has anyone used both of these, had experience and can offer any insights into which you preferred and why? Thanks.

Recommended AP's for 140sqm house

Hi Folks, I'm looking to purchase a Fusion 2.5g router/gateway, a ES228GP switch, and a EAP653 to upgrade the internet in my house now I have access to fibre.

Originally, I thought a single EAP653 would be sufficient, perhaps 2 max, playing around with the Tp-link wifi planner today, and it seems to get the best coverage I'd need to install 3.

Can anyone with a bit more knowledge, or similar experience / house size be able to offer any recommendations between, 1, 2, or 3 AP's?

FreeCAD for Cabinetry Design, Thoughts?

Hi all! I currently use SketchUp for kitchen and cabinetry design, SketchUp allows me to create accurate dimensioned models, create customer and workshop plans in Layout, Render in various software, create optimised cutting lists, part labels and CNC exports with Open Cut List.

Recently I've moved my main OS from Windows to Linux Debian and with this have found many great alternatives for a number of apps and services, unfortunately however, SketchUp is Windows only.

Looking at Linux alternatives, FreeCAD appears to be the best alternative. I'd like to know whether anyone here uses FreeCAD for kitchen and cabinetry design, and whether it's capable of everything that I currently do in SketchUp? Any input would be fantastic.

Thanks.

Question about Controller access if the Controller is inside the network

Hey folks! I'm finalising my decision between the new Fusion Gateway Router, or the ER7206 with a self hosted controller.

One question I have, if the gateway / router ever has an issue, resulting in no network, would I be correct in assuming that the controller would not be accessible remotely and therefore could not be used to restart the gateway / router? A possible issue for the Fusion with built in Controller.

My alternative option of the ER7206 would be selfhosting the controller on a VPS, outside of the network.

Looking for users advice and suggestions on this, being able to restart the router / gateway remotely is something that seems valuable to me.

GTA SA Achievements Stopped Working

Hi All, only new to Retro Achievements, so bare with me. I have just started playing GTA SA on PCSX2. I have done about the first 6 missions, earning achievements after each mission on Casual mode, I was experiencing a few graphical issues, so I enabled SilentPatch.

Following this I completed the mission 'Nines & AK's' and noticed on completion I didn't get the achievement. I assume the patch is considered a cheat. SO I turned it off, reloaded and completed the mission again, and still no achievement.

Lastly, I completely closed PCSX2, cleared all save states and opened the game again, completed the mission, and still no achievement.

Has anybody experienced this before? It's almost like the patch being enabled has ruined any chance of achievements for the entire game save? Any help would be great.

Recommend Version to Replay

Hi all, after many, many years, I'd like to replay GTA SA. I currently have the PS2 version (playable with PCSX2 on Linux) the PC version (if it works via Steam / Proton on Linux) and also the later Trilogy Edition (again, Steam / Proton on Linux if it works)

Which of these three would you recommend replaying, I assume while largely the same, there might be minor differences in gameplay?

Thanks all.

Accidentally Deployed a Second Immich with a current DB_DATA path

I recently setup a second Immich instance as a testing ground, during the deploy I forgot to change the path for DB_DATA_LOCATION, and deployed this before realising.

My primary Immich instance still works, and shows no issues in the logs, but I'm getting huge inconsistency in thumbnails loading (sometimes they do, sometimes the entire gallery is blurred thumbnails), sometimes media loads, sometimes it doesn't and the page needs a refresh. I don't remember getting before, but also haven't been using Immich for very long.

My question is, should I consider starting again? Could this have created any issues with the database and its related files?

Hi all, I'm in the process of switching my primary laptop to Linux. In the process I've identified that the only app that I can't bring across is SketchUp and Layout.

I was wondering whether anybody has setup remote access to use SketchUp and tell me what the experience was like?

I understand the experience will vary depending on quality and speed of connection, and model size.

But, has anybody had really good experience with this where the software doesn't feel massively delayed?

Thanks.

EDIT: Another option that crossed my mind, does anybody run Sketchup in a Virtual Machine? I could also setup a VM on my Linux device.
