Devastated - Criminal case dropped

My domestic violence case was just dropped and I feel completely devastated and confused.

There was video evidence of her raising her hand to hit me. Police arrested her at the time. Since then, there have also been ongoing issues like victim-blaming texts, threats related to custody/separation, and even objects thrown at my car. I sent screenshots, photos, and updates to the victim advocate because I genuinely felt unsafe and trapped.

Today I was told the case is being dropped completely. From what I understand, the reasons included:
- she voluntarily completed anger management,
- she is in therapy,
- and the fact that we are still living together.

What people don’t seem to understand is how hard and scary it can be to leave when the person wants control over the relationship and uses emotional pressure, guilt, custody fears, and intimidation. Staying while trying to figure out housing and separation logistics somehow got interpreted as meaning I must not really be afraid.

I honestly feel blindsided. I was mentally prepared for probation or some kind of court supervision, but not for the entire case to disappear.

Has anyone else experienced this kind of outcome even when there was evidence and an arrest?
