Some relatives really think that having a doctor in the family automatically means free medical consultations! 😅

Some relatives really think that having a doctor in the family automatically means free medical consultations! 😅

A distant relative of mine suddenly messaged me a picture of her laboratory results and wanted me to interpret them for free as a consultation. We’ve never had any chat history, and this was the first message I had ever received from her. I can’t even remember if we’ve ever spoken in person before this. 😓

May confession ako about how I ended up with my childhood best friend!

I saw a post on another subreddit today about an organic encounter, and that inspired me to type this confession. I don’t know if this was purely an organic encounter talaga, and some parts of the story ay huwag dapat tularan.

My partner and I have been best friends since elementary. Even though we weren’t classmates anymore in high school, we still saw each other from time to time. Hanggang sa padalang nang padalang na yung pagkikita namin kasi naging busy na kami sa buhay. Eventually, our interactions were mostly online, and we were lucky if we got to see each other once a year along with our other elementary friends.

Fast forward to 2025, nagkita ulit kami unexpectedly sa isang mall. Yung workplaces kasi namin ay medyo malapit lang talaga sa isa’t isa. We had messaged each other multiple times about meeting up, but walang natutuloy kasi hanggang chat lang. Coincidentally, that was also around the time na nakipag-break ako sa ex-boyfriend ko, and he had also broken up with his ex-boyfriend. We had both been in long-term relationships.

From there, we slowly rekindled our friendship. We started hanging out spontaneously every time na nagkakaswak yung free days namin each week. Those hangouts eventually turned into a no-strings-attached relationship. No strings attached lang talaga because he was supposedly gay. Ayun, nabuntis ako, and we now have an almost two-month-old baby.

I'm struggling to deal with an unexpected pregnancy, family pressure to get married, and growing uncertainty about my relationship with my lifelong best friend.

Problem/Goal: I honestly don't know what to do right now, and I think I just need advice from people outside my circle.

Context: I have a gay best friend whom I've known for a long time. Since late last year, we've been doing some wild things together with no strings attached. Our actions eventually led to me getting pregnant.

He has known about the pregnancy from the start and has been supportive. Financially, the pregnancy itself isn't really the problem. We're both professionals with stable careers, and we're in a position to provide for the child.

Recently, we finally told our parents about the pregnancy. As expected, they were very disappointed and are now pressuring us to get married because they are quite conservative.

To make matters worse, my mom told her siblings about my entire situation. Now, almost every relative who talks to me follows it up with comments, opinions, or unsolicited advice about my pregnancy. In a nutshell, I have become the chismis of the entire family and the neighborhood.

What confuses me the most is the father of my child. We've basically just been best friends for most of our lives, and I never saw him in a romantic way. I genuinely don't think I had feelings for him before. But ever since I got pregnant, I've gotten to see another side of him. Sometimes I wonder if it's just hormones, but I feel like I'm starting to fall for him.

Then he said something to my parents that made me even more confused. While they were pressuring us to get married, he disagreed and told them that I don't deserve a marriage that happens just because I'm pregnant or because we feel obligated to do it. What really caught me off guard was when he talked about us getting married as if it was already part of his long-term plans. He said that we would eventually get married, but it should be because of the two of us and not because of the baby. He had never mentioned anything like that to me before.

Now I'm questioning everything. Is this still casual? Is he simply being responsible and mature, or is there something more behind what he's saying? I'm scared to ask him directly because I'm terrified of what his answer might be.

I just feel overwhelmed by everything that has been happening.
