Leaving Skyrim Behind

I’ve been thinking ever since the ramp in hype about TES6. I’m incredibly excited for the new title and can’t wait for what’s in store but it’s got me thinking… We’ve been playing Skyrim for years, it’s a second home to a lot of people. It’s definitely a little sad to see Skyrim no longer be the reigning champion of this franchise. Once the next title is out, I’m sure majority of modders will move over (except those working on longstanding projects), content creators will be focusing on the new title, player base will be focused on ES6, etc etc. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure ES5 would be saying “I’m tired boss” if it could but it’s definitely a little saddening to turn our gaze away to look at the new game. I personally was first introduced to this franchise through Skyrim and it’s one of my happy places.

Before anyone says anything though… I know it’s not going anywhere and we can all come back whenever just like we do with Morrowind and Oblivion. But, how likely will we get another Skyrim rerelease??? Just some thoughts I had and curious if anyone else felt the same way.

HRD and Freesync Help

I was running Arch Linux for almost 9 months and CachyOs for about 2 months.

I love the OS but my biggest complaints are with my beautiful 27” QOLED 360hz Alienware monitor.

How do I properly utilize HDR and Freesync Premium Pro on Linux? I have this expensive monitor with all these features that I just can’t utilize cause no matter what I googled or tried it didn’t work. I would utilize steam launch options to enable HDR but it didn’t work, and adaptive sync on KDE plasma is absolute 100% garbage that flickers the screen every time you move the mouse.

What am I doing wrong and how can I get a good enough reason to move back from windows to Linux (cause I did move back to windows just so everything would work)

Alternatives to ES

After having thousands of hours split across the Elder Scrolls franchise, I’m looking for something to try out while we wait.

I’ve recently finished Tainted Grail Fall of Avalon and want to find more games with Bethesda DNA without actually being from Bethesda.

I did recently pick up Fatekeeper which claims to be inspired/similar to ES but haven’t had the chance to play yet.

Any suggestions?

Advice on 7900XTX to 9070XT

I’ve owned a Powercolor Hellhound 7900XTX for about 2 years now. Great card, outside the fact the past year I have had numerous issues. Specifically, I have had weird boot up issues where my PC throws a mobo light and doesn’t boot unless remove all power from the computer or unplug the GPU. That happens pretty much every time I turn on my PC after letting it sit overnight. On top of that, it’ll randomly crash just leaving me with a flat gray screen until I reboot.

I’ve utilized Windows, Arch, and CachyOS and the issues persist across all platforms.

Newegg would allow me to trade in my card for an Asrock 9070XT in a one-to-one trade.

I understand the card is slightly less performant than the 7900XTX in gaming but I’m more so looking for a card that just works. I’ve tried a ton of different things in total to get this to work and I can’t warranty the damn thing.

Just for reference, I play all games at 2K around 144hz and mainly either MMOs or single-player RPGs.

Meraki AP / P2P

Need help to determine a setup for a wireless bridge to use with Meraki APs.

The Meraki APs we have need to be connected to a trunk port, however our existing wireless bridges don’t carry tagged traffic.

How can I get this secondary building WiFi using Meraki APs on a trunk with their uplink being a wireless bridge?

Network Bandwidth/Performance Monitor

Hey all, I’m looking for help with a network bandwidth monitoring system to help pinpoint any bottlenecks in our environment.

We have a total of 8 different buildings with multiple Cisco 2960-X.

I was investigating using Netflow but not set on it since it’ll require setting up something like Elastiflow and then an additional GUI on top of that.

We utilize Domotz for SNMP but the metrics there don’t give me much to work with and we have limited control since that is managed through a contract.

Just need some sort of solution at little to no cost to help me pinpoint where this issue is.
