Some beans I can refry at home. Stuff I can take home and enjoy all week. Any tips appreciated thank you!

Please Stop Turning La Brea Tar Pits Into an Off Leash Dog Park

Dog owners: Please don't make the La Brea Tar Pits an unofficial off leash dog park.

I went there today specifically because it used to be one of the only places in LA where leash rules were actually enforced. It was one of the few places you could walk a leashed dog peacefully without constantly being approached by off leash dogs.

Today there were probably 50 unleashed dogs running around.

Dog owners that insist on doing this: go to Pan Pacific, Wattles, Poinsettia, Plummer. Please just go to those parks since you basically made them unofficial dog parks anyway. Also there are actual off-leash dog parks Laurel Canyon and West Hollywood made specifically for this.

A lot of dogs are nervous on leash. Some are reactive. Some are recovering from surgeries or training issues. If your off leash dog runs up to a leashed dog and gets bitten because the leashed dog panics, who do you think is at fault? Is it really worth creating that situation just because you don’t feel like using a leash?

People always say “my dog is friendly,” but that’s not really the point. The issue is control and respecting shared public spaces.

I love dogs. I have a dog. I just think leash laws exist for a reason, and it sucks losing one of the few calm places left in LA where people could walk their dogs without having to be on alert the entire time.
