This batch of store bought cranberry juice is taking particularly long to ferment. It’s a half gallon batch and I used red star wine yeast and threw in 2 cups of sugar. It’s been about 17 days now and it’s still producing ALOT of bubbles, the video doesn’t show it as well but you can still see it bubbling. Should I just let it keep going until it stops or am I good to pop off the lid, empty it into a jar and start drinking?

So this is half gallon batch of Pyment, aka Welch’s Grape Juice and 1.5 LBS of Honey. The reading on the hydrometer came off as 1.155 and after it was ready I put in 1/4 teaspoon of yeast and put it away in my cubboard. Not much has happened although the yeast has started getting active and foaming at the top but other then that I can’t tell if the yeast has stalled, if I didn’t add enough or if just need to keep waiting. Kinda new to this hobby and not my first time making a pyment, one of my first batches was 1 quart sized and I used basically the same recipe, Welch’s Grape Juice and 0.5 lbs of honey. Only difference is for my first batch I used Red Star Wine Yeast and didn’t rehydrate it and that came out pretty good to like 13%. For this I didn’t rehydrate it either and used the same amount of yeast but used K1 (V1116) instead to try something new out. Little help or advice?

Posted previously about this batch of pineapple juice mead I’m making as my first half gallon batch and had some complications roughly after the first 24 hours when the vigorous fermentation started, it started foaming ALOT to the point that the bubbler at the top for the gases was getting gunked up with foam and yeast and It was filling up every hour and I didn’t know what to do so I just kept taking off the top, cleaning the bubbler and lid with hot water, scooping out the excess foam and then putting it back on. I didn’t this several times until the excess foaming stopped the same day, now it’s…calm, and I honestly don’t know if I scooped out all the the yeast and ruined it or not, or if yeast is still in there at the bottom, since I can see that CO2 is still clearly being produced as the bubbler is still filling up and deflating every 6 seconds and I can see the bubbles in the jar. So tell me guys, did scooping out all that excess foam ruin the batch? Should have just let it overflow with foam and spit until it was done and THEN clean it? I’m still new to this hobby and open to advice.

So I’m new to this hobby and I’ve done a couple batches of wine now but this one I might’ve messed up. Was making my first half gallon sized batch of Pineapple Mead with red star wine yeast and when setting this up I added I think too much yeast. First the top of the batch was foamy and I stupidly put in the yeast while it was all foamy and I had to put the bubbler in but the foam was too close to the top, so I scooped the foam out and worried I might’ve scooped out a bit of yeast? Added half an extra teaspoon to compensate. Then I did another stupid when I put the top of the lid on with the bubbler and accidentally pushed the bubbler too hard and forced the rubber bit into the batch. So I then strained out the batch into another jar so the rubber divider/bit wouldn’t be in the batch the whole time and again, fearing I lost some yeast while straining? I added another half tea spoon of yeast.

So be honest with me, is this batch a lost cause? Have I added too much yeast and do I now need too dump the whole jar out?

I have NO clue why this happened and honestly? Kinda creeped out, especially since I’m just chilling to the smooth jazz from the Mysterious broadcast. I’m level 32, fresh out of Honest Hearts as my first DLC this run and was waiting in Novac for night time to pick up Boone after accidentally sending him back to Novac. All of a sudden my wait gets interrupted and this NCR military police trooper is mad at me for…SOME reason! I have idolized reputation with the Strip and NCR, I’m doing a Mr House run but have not reached the point of no return for working with the NCR so they don’t hate me and are still open to working for me. I helped out Micheal Angelo on the Strip and did the White Glove Society quest as my last missions, since I’m trying to level up again before going to the next DLC, but I don’t really know what I could’ve done to warrant tracking me down this far and after all my work! XD
