What should I do/improve on before the NCM opens? (THIS IS NOT A CHANCE ME I PROMISE, Just wanna know my weak areas in order to plan accordingly)

- My GPA is a low 3.8 right now (doubt I'll be able to raise it any further bc I'm burnt-out as hell), with mostly As, a few A-s, a B in English honors (1st semester only, A- second sem), and a B- in the 1st semester of AP Calc BC (I'm on track of getting an A- this semester tho).

- I've taken 4 APs so far and planning to take 2-3 more next year. the rest are mostly honors with regular classes in my first two science classes (we only have honors Chem and Physics for now) and Spanish (the only Spanish I know is from watching Dora the Explorer as a toddler)

- My SAT superscore is 1310 (680 R, 630 Math)

- I only have 2 awards: Honor Roll and QB CPS (Maybe AP Scholar, I suck at tests lol)

- My ECs are fine but I wouldn't say impressive:

Summer Programs that are still opened!

BTW, these are all 100% Free

Macquarie LEADS Externship Program: The program is open to current high school juniors (rising seniors) in New York City, Houston, and Jacksonville. Here's what participants can look forward to:

• A five-week career development experience (July 6 – August 7, 2026)

• Exposure to the financial services industry and 1-on-1 connections with Macquarie mentors

• A mix of in-person sessions (2x/week) and Zoom workshops (3x/week)

• College and career readiness skills

• A $1,000 educational stipend upon completion

Applications are due May 31, 2026, but reviewed on a rolling basis so applying early is strongly encouraged.

TECH360: A FREE, immersive summer program designed for high school students (10th and 11th) who are curious about technology and interested in exploring topics like artificial intelligence, problem-solving, and real-world tech applications. Students will gain hands-on experience, collaborate with peers, and build projects that reflect real industry challenges. Be sure to check out the flyer for key dates, eligibility details, and application information. Participants will get a $500 stipend! Due by May 24, 2026.

(I think this also depends on region however. Just check to make sure. NYCers are eligible either way tho)

(Edit 1: TECH360 is only for those in NYC, LA, Miami, and Atlanta.)

NYU Computer Science for Cyber Security (CS4CS): Offered by NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering, this four-week program equips students with the fundamentals of cybersecurity and computer science. CS4CS participants explore a variety of topics throughout the program, including cryptography, security-focused scripting, and digital forensics.

Participants will also engage in Capture the Flag competitions, hands-on security challenges, and research projects. This free program is open to residents of New York City, Nassau County, and New Jersey in the 10th and 11th grades. Due May 15, 2026.

Youth Art Connection | American Folk Art Museum: This six-session program from the American Folk Art Museum takes place throughout July and is aimed at high schoolers interested in careers in art and museums. Participants discuss pieces in the museum’s collection and create their own art inspired by it.

Students also meet with museum staff, get an up-close look at its operations, and visit other art institutions. All New York City high school juniors and seniors are eligible to apply; however, preference is given to those who live or attend school in Queens and are graduating seniors. Due May 8th, 2026.

Summer Shakespeare - Stella Adler Center for the Arts:

This free five-week summer program trains high schoolers in voice, movement, ensemble work, and scene study—culminating with the production of an abbreviated Shakespeare play. The program is open to New York City high school students with financial need and demonstrated need for exposure to the arts, such as students who don’t have access to art programming.

Just 22 students are selected to participate in the program. Due June 1, 2026.

I have more but those are either solely for those in NYC or take place during the school year and I also need them for myself.

Promise this ain't sponsored btw (I wish it was...I need money bad 😭)

Before anyone comes at me, the program ended a week ago and we won’t resume until September. I will tell them this but has it ever worked?

I just recently got an acceptance into the Girls Who Code Pathways Program!

Y'all can say whatever you want abt the selectivity but it's either this or rotting in bed for the rest of this summer (I still waiting/apply to stuff but, like, there's only 3 other options for me besides this and with my rejection streak, I'm just happy I got something other than QB CPS [didn't fill out awards form btw])

So, has anyone else done this program? If so, how was it like and do you think it's worth it?
