Can I apply to Questbridge and EA schools at the same time?
I'm a rising senior and I was planning to do both to improve my chances. Lmk

i'm an upcoming senior who is preparing for college apps, but i'm struggling to decide if questbridge is worth it. i have quite a few extracurriculars to list and i feel like only putting five doesnt fully display my commitment throughout highschool. the deadline is really early and i hope to apply for some form of psych or bio major...which i know is competitive.
however, tuition is definitely one of the most important things to me because my parents are divorced and my dad doesnt fund anything. i'm willing to take out loans too but i dont know if it's worth..
also for reference i'm a low income asian pacific islander female that goes to a competitive high school (with a graduating class of 175).
i think my plan will be to apply to a couple schools through questbridge that i would 100% attend, and if i dont match, i'll just continue on with common app regular decision and ucs (instead of questbridge rd, so i can list all my activities without worry).
what do you guys think?
will QB help cover the cost of an iPad for class? im a history major so I have to take notes on everything and handwriting helps more than typing on a laptop
So I took Spanish my freshman year. But then due to scheduling conflicts with some AP classes I couldn't do Spanish sophomore year. And then junior year due to wanting to take DE classes I couldn't do Spanish. so now I'm going to be a senior doing Spanish 2 and I'm panicking that it means I can't get into a good college anymore. Should I try to scrounge up the money and do a Spanish class this summer, maybe take out a loan for it,? Have you guys matched at any schools with only 2 years of foreign language
I got in!! This is the first fly-in I applied to, so I am very happy but I haven't heard of anyone else who got in
Any other results… we should make a gc or smt
I will be doing a summer program pretty competitive but not the top tier ones that'd immediately stand out to AOs. Like a part of me knows that doing something you're passionate about is something very valuable but I still couldn't help but feel sad seeing ppl's acceptances to top tier programs🥲 anyone feeling the same?
My school offers Spanish 1, 2, 3, and AP Spanish. However, AP Spanish hasn’t been offered in the last 10 years because there has never been enough student interest to open the class. I’ll be taking Spanish 3 during my senior year tho. My school also doesn’t count foreign language as a core class, so it doesn’t affect our GPA. Since Texas no longer requires four years of a foreign language, my school only requires two years to graduate. My counselor said she’ll explain that AP Spanish wasn’t available, and I’ll mention it in the Additional Information section too. I plan to apply through NCM, so am I screwed for T20? 🥲🥲🥲

Context: My parents are filed for divorce last month so they’re selling our ~340k value home. I have one sibling and we’ll be living with our ~20k annual income parent. Combined my parents make ~62k a year. They own no other properties and neither of us are buying new homes. Instead my family is giving us their home they just moved out of, so we are “renting” it for $0. My other parent’s the same.
The 340k is being split between both parents, and I would really like to know if this liquidated asset would immediately disqualify me from QuestBridge as a first-generation college student. And well, I can guarantee that stash of money will NOT remain with how the four figure debt my parent is in…(however they are non compliant and refuse to share exact details and documentation).

looks like a lot less? am i missing something or did the amount of schools offering fly ins actually decrease this year
My husband and I make over 65.000 I know questbridge is for low income however we are 3 and I have a son with disability and of course ours saving are very low . We don’t have properties or assets nothing . Jus good salary well my husband not me 😂. Can my daughter qualify ? Or they don’t care . Thank you in advance 🙏🏻
Hi everyone!! So I have been debating on whether or not I should apply to questbridge NCM for like 2 months, I do qualify financially but I don't think I fit their academic standards. My weighted GPA is a 92/100 and that's from all the classes I have taken, my school does it on the 100 scale so like I've had high 90s in some classes but then 85s in other classes. 85 is the lowest grade I have ever received and I do have some of those.
The only circumstance I have is that I've had multiple surgeries from freshman to junior year which has caused a weird trend in my grades (like whenever I do get surgery my grades just plummet). My test scores are good though, as have a 1590 on my sat and a 35 on my act.
But honestly my school is a public magnet in NYC so like I don't even compare to most of my peers. I'm not sure if I should apply because my gpa honestly sucks and my school is pretty competitive.
I’d rather use common app for regular decision applications because I can list more extracurricular activities, and regular decision Questbridge doesn’t really offer much benefits for rd.

Edit: Specifically for the schools that you applied to in match. I was told that Questbridge automatically moves your applications to regular decision at those schools if you don’t match.
As applications get closer, I’m starting to panic because I’m struggling to figure out who to ask for recommendations.
I know it’s best to ask 11th grade core teachers, but that’s kind of an issue for me. My AP Bio teacher got fired halfway through the year and the replacement barely knew me, plus I didn’t do well in that class. My AP Lang teacher left the district, so I don’t know if I can even reach her. I did well in AP Gov and AP Macro, but I don’t think either teacher knew me well enough. My AP Stats teacher and I got along great, but I wasn’t the best student in that class since I suck at math, same with precal.
My other options are mostly non core teachers. My band director has hundreds of students, my French teacher was online, and my media teacher has had me since 9th grade and knows me really well.
Since I’m planning to study social science, I want the strongest recommendations possible. Would it be okay to use a 10th grade teacher who knows me well instead of forcing an 11th grade teacher who barely knows me? Sorry for the rant, I’m just worried I won’t be able to find the right people.
I don't really want to apply to quest bridge because my stats are significantly below their median -- and I believe it's not worth it. (3.35 uw, 3.92 w -- testing in august goal is SAT 1400+).
but my college counselor (matchlighters) believes I should still apply regardless to "maximize my opportunities." With my financial situation, I can't go to college unless I have a full ride/near full ride somewhere.
I have "extenuating circumstances" such as family job loss, family responsibilities due to my mom's occasional absences throughout high school, family conflict that involved police, and other things like experiencing health concerns I delayed checking because of money constraints.
Compared to my peers, I do take a very rigorous course load. As for my extracurriculars, I have multiple national level impact activities in organizations as well as some regional awards.
I would say I'm a very ambitious person, and I do have a clear mission and spike in my activities.
Realistically, I struggled academically in school. I frequently had trouble focusing in class and usually felt fatigued. Furthermore, I found it difficult to study effectively, even when sitting at my desk for hours.
I don't want to be all negative, and I do believe I'm a passionate and intellectually curious person. But the program will find my low gpa concerning lol
Hello. I am current a college prep scholar, and I’ve been thinking—what benefit would I truly get through applying through the NCM? My extracurriculars are good, though they are mediocre, I’m guaranteed a scholarship and extra funding if I stay in state, and my SAT score is good but not ‘ivy’ good.
Hey ! ☺️ question . Bear with me this is new for me please .
My daughter number 1 school is UVA . We make less that what they request, my husband makes more however we have a son with disability . What are the opportunity for her to be finalis for questbridge ? She is going test optional unless she got the score she is expecting for SAT ( August ) her EC’s is really good her grade and GPA are good more than 4 and she is working hard in her essay to stand out. What is the best strategy or move for her do to do? Questbridge or apply for ED UVA . Thank you in advances 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
if i dont match to the school i want can i apply their regularly? im interested in applying to columbia, boston uni, brown, case western, mckenna, cornell, duke, emory, johns hopkins, northwestern, princeton, rice, stanford, tufts, uchicago, upenn, usc, wellesely, wesleyan, and yale basically a majority of schools but i dont really know if i would get in through questbridge or just do applications thru common app and fingers crossed receive good aid through institution aid + scholarships
hi, i'm a rising senior trying to decide if i should even apply for ncm
i was rejected from cps and a bunch of other summer and fly-in programs. it's not really surprising bc i don’t really have good stats…my gpa is 3.43 uw and a 3.92 w. my sat is a 1370 (710 rw, 660 math) and my act is a 30 (36 reading, 32 english, 22 math, 30 science)
my ec's aren’t that great either. i was accepted to a good summer program, but my parents withdrew me from it, so all i have are leadership positions in clubs and nonprofits
i know my chances for the match are low, but i need a full ride or close to it bc otherwise i can’t go to college
when ncm opens, is it worth it for me to apply or should i just focus on the common app instead? has anyone here matched (or even become a finalist) with similar stats? please give me any advice!!
