Rise of 'viral' movies

I'm noticing with the fall of Marvel that there hasn't been until the last few years, viral mono-culture films that everyone will see no matter the interest level or if it's good or bad. Marvel seemed like a very different kind of hype before it died down, true absurd levels of fandom and general interest.

But now, the rise of YouTube filmmakers is somehow taking the full force of online fandom and bringing it to the cinema and the combined interest feels very different than anything I've seen in a long long time.

The first sort of viral movie that got hyped up to a fever pitch was everything everywhere all at once. Films like Sinners, Talk to me, Obsession, Backrooms all have this intense virality to them. That despite being good or bad, there's this, let's all embrace this film no matter what, quality to them.

The most recent Backrooms and Obsession films had me very interested in this phenomenon as of late. They were pretty good overall and entertaining enough albeit some issues here and there.

But the hype that comes with YouTube creator "ip" as it were, is unreal. What do you guys think? Are we going to see continuous waves of viral film hype every year now?

I think it's good for the film industry but I am scratching my head now every time I watch one. The intensity of the fandom is actually more interesting than the movies themselves but that doesn't mean they're bad or anything

Are there any reviews for Backrooms out?

I was thinking about buying a ticket for me and my friend for Thurs, and when I went to Rotten Tomatoes I noticed there's no reviews yet for the movie. I usually see review embargoed films that wait till the day before when the reviews are mixed / potentially bad. Anyone know why this one is waiting to right before release?

It looks really good I'm just picky these days about what movies I pay to go see, just want to make sure it's decent and not just a hype train movie that only kids are excited about etc

Is the quality of dialog going down a bit in mainstream film and TV?

I was sort of admiring just how good so many films and shows look these days. They're so well made, from production design, to cinematography, the directing etc are very high level in many ways. And often the writing is pretty good too, most of the shows or films I watch are paced really well and I don't really feel anything 'drag' anywhere. I'm mostly referring to popular mainstream shows and film, say Euphoria, Taylor Sheridan properties, The Peripheral, Star Trek, Beef S2, Wuthering Heights, Crime 101, The Rip and many more.

Now, there's still so many amazing films and shows that are written so well with great dialog but it just feels like more and more I'm bumping into dialog that provides no subtext, nothing interesting to say and overall just very clunky feeling

After watching A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms I was struck by how impactful every single line of dialog was. It either moved the story along, told you something about the characters in a way that felt like a punch to the face. Astonishingly well crafted dialog in that show and overall many movies from the 90s and early 2000s seem to have way more economy of words with lots of subtext and really interesting things going on that you sort of had to think about? I feel myself checking out in a lot of movies these days specifically because of the quality of dialog and I'm curious if anyone else thinks there's something to be desired there?

Consensus on most reliable debrid provider other than RD for Torrentio cached files? Is torbox the best or should I look elsewhere?

I guess everyone including myself is looking for a replacement for RD, at least where it concerns WEB DL stuff.

What's the consensus? Over at the torbox subreddit, I'm seeing lots of reports of buffering which I don't like at all... and RD handles very nicely.

I'm willing to try it because it's cheap but is there anything else that gets 'somewhat' close to to the cache of RD? I guess I don't fully depend on it having esoteric / old stuff but I'm looking for a cache that has most all the new stuff that won't give me trouble with web DL.

How does Alldebrid compare?

[Acne] What worked for you after your Clindamycin prescription ended?

Clindamycin + BP is the only thing that has ever worked for me. Tret does okay but I will inevitably still get bad breakouts, just less. For some reason, a simple antibiotic like Clindamycin has completely 100% eliminated all acne and Rosacea / skin redness.

Is there any hope after you stop using Clindamycin?
