Mando has found his fellow kitties and smoke kitty lovers! 💜

This is Mando, he is one of my two precious kitties. I adopted him because he was shy and had the saddest eyes at the shelter, now he is a spoiled little man who lives for food, brush time and cuddles 💜 He also plays fetch and is just the most wonderful little gentleman. I love seeing everyone's little smoke kitties, it's truly the most magical coat ✨

Been taking migraine rescue meds for 20 years and I still go back and forth wether to take them

Like the title says, I have been taking rescue meds (triptans) for 20 years. I KNOW what my migraines feel like, and I *know* I should take them at the first sign of a migraine but dangit if I don't question it *every time*. Like, I'll give it an hour, drink water, maybe take an ibuprofen. Never freaking works and you know what? I'll do it again, I never learn. 😩

Do y'all always hope it'll go away and wait longer than you should before taking rescue meds, even though you know better? I'm there right now 🫠

Edit: woops, spelling error in title but I can't change it 😅

Second Update: Wellbutrin 7 months later

Hello!

I believe I've only made one post about my experience with bupropion/ Wellbutrin maybe a couple months into it. I'm now at month 7 and thought I'd share my complete experience, good and bad, to try and help anyone who is looking for experiences. Maybe to help decide if they want to try it, or maybe to relate their own experiences. I will say my experience has been an overall big jet positive, even though I'm about to be very honest about the bad parts.

My first month was... Rough. It just was, there's no way around it. I would take my pill in the morning and I could feel the moment my body started to metabolize it - I'd shake, sweat, get lightheaded, headaches and dizzy. I had insomnia and extremely vivid dreams. A week in I also had a couple of days of extreme paranoia.

Now I started Wellbutrin for depression after a traumatic loss, so insomnia was already a thing, vivid dreams could also be from the trauma. I've also been going to therapy this whole time and still am. This said, Wellbutrin amped these up.

I remember this subreddit helped me stick it through, and I'm glad I did. After about 2 months, I believe, it finally started to become more normal, more level, a little happier. I'd continue to have dizziness for months. I still occasionally get light headed, but I get vestibular migraines so now I can't tell what it is.

After the 2 month mark, it was the middle of winter and I noticed that... Despite the trauma, I was having a less depressive winter than I normally have. I was... Fine? It was honestly shocking.

It also altered my cycle, it was very wonky for multiple months, now it's shorter, but fairly consistent. Shorter meaning, it comes around every 3 weeks, instead of 4.

I also noticed that I could focus better than I've ever been able to in my life. (This eventually motivated me to get an ADHD test, at the age of 38, and I found out I am)

7 months in, I'm sleeping like a rock. My anxiety is so much better than it's ever been, I feel confident, calm(er), I have much better impulse control and I am happy more days than not. Night and day compared to... Well to who I've been my whole life.

The primary negative side effect that I still have is tinnitus. It's fairly mild anymore, I only really hear it when it's quiet in a room. BUT it is there, especially while trying to fall asleep.

I get migraines and while I've had good months and bad months since starting, I'll say I probably have had a slight uptick in migraines but not to the extent that I can definitely blame Wellbutrin.

My doctor and I intend to consider weaning in a couple of months, however I truly enjoy the emotional stability this medication offers me - where I'm still me, just enjoying life more. I may stay on it if she'll let me, but I'm also fine going off it as it helped me through my darkest time and I may no longer need it.

It's worth a try, you can always stop taking it (by proper weaning), and who knows, it may be life changing.

Dosage is generic brand,150mg XL, once daily

Me: 38f

Edit: I forgot to mention, it did make my hair thin, but I had a lot of hair and it's not noticeable. It's not getting thinner, it's maintaining and still looks healthy.

Migraines actually worse on low histamine diet?

Hey all,

As the title says, I've been on the low Histamine diet for about 2 months now and the last month has been one of my worst for migraines in over a year. I can't tell if it's because of the diet, or maybe it's the season, but this time last year I was getting 3-5 migraines in a month and last month was 12 😩

Is this even possible, that eating a low histamine diet can trigger *more*migraines?? The diet is really helping my gut health, I have been able to reduce the frequency of antacids by a lot, and in general have very little stomach discomfort, but dang, I'm tired of my head hurting.

Just curious if anyone else noticed an uptick in their migraines instead of a decrease on this diet, and did it ever go away for you?

Borscht is histamine friendly:)

I just wanted to throw out there that borscht is histamine friendly. Once I realized the ingredients are generally considered okay you bet I went to work making some.

I made my own beef bone broth for this recipe.

My (loose) recipe is as follows:

At least 6 cups broth, maybe 10 or so? (Depends on size of pot, really)

Bay leaves (I use 2)

Salt to taste

White or apple cider vinegar

1-2lbs beef, cubed, depending on how meat heavy you want it.

1 white onion, chopped

4 cloves garlic, crushed and roughly chopped

2 large beets, peeled & cubed (or 3-4 small beets, peeled, cubed)

1/3 head of red cabbage (really just as much as wanted, more or less depending on room in pot)

2-3 russet potatoes, cubed

2 carrots, peeled and diced

Fresh dill, finey chopped

Cube beets & carrots about the same size - about 1/2" sized cubes. Potatoes can be slightly bigger.

Saute onions and carrots until sweated and slightly caramelized, remove from pot.

Brown beef cubes, then add garlic & cook until fragrant . (Like 30 seconds) Add broth, put onions & carrots, beets and bay leaves in at this point as well. Bring to boil.

Once boiling reduce heat to a nice rolling simmer, cook until beets are half soft. During this time, skim off any foam that gathers at top. Add potatoes & cabbage, add additional water as needed. Cook 10 minutes.

At this point add about a tablespoon of vinegar and salt to taste, adjust as needed. You can add water if it has boiled down significantly, or to taste. Add about 3 tablespoons finely chopped dill as well.

The soup is done once the potatoes are cooked through, usually it's about 5 more minutes after adding vinegar & salt.

Since sour cream is not low Histamine, I added cream cheese to my bowl and it was actually pretty good! I also made GF biscuits w/o yeast and had that on the side. Top with fresh dill to taste. Enjoy!

Edit: forgot to mention to shred & chop cabbage pretty fine so it cooks quickly and is sized well with the rest of the ingredients.

Hello all,

I'm still quite new to the concept of a Low Histamine Diet. I tried a Low Fodmap diet a couple of years ago and learned that my body doesn't like beans and mangoes but that was about all I learned.

However the list of symptoms related to Histamine Intolerance is just me as a person: Migraines, GERD, Stomach issues, Skin issues and I have a ton of environmental allergies that went away when I lived in Arizona but are awful in the PNW.

I started a low histamine diet about a week and a half ago, at first my breakfast was low Histamine, then breakfast and lunch for a few days and I'm probably on day 4 of 100% low Histamine other than soy milk (to try and help with hormonal migraines) and coffee (1/2 cup).

The last 3 days have been just awful. Thursday I thought I had the flu, but no fever. Every joint in my body hurt SO BAD, I was exhausted, and just felt sick. Yesterday I had zero strength, going up a flight of stairs felt like climbing a mountain and felt a little icky. The last two days I have had so much lower stomach pain, today my energy is ok but I'm also just laying around.

Is this bacteria die off? Has anyone else experienced this during the transition stage? Or should I be concerned and back off the diet?

Hello!

I guess I just wanted to share my experience. I'm on tray 30 of 50. Maybe 2 months ago I thought I noticed some gum recession on my front two lower teeth. Over a few weeks it got worse and I mentioned it on my follow up with my Ortho.

He said to keep an eye on it, but I ended up going to my dentist for a cleaning and asked them to check the level of recession while I was there. They then referred me to a periodontist who now says I'll need a gum graft. T^T

The recession is happening because my front teeth are being tilted too far forward for my gums to handle, I now have to pause treatment while I get new aligners and we're going to try to file enamel between teeth in an attempt to avoid pulling my premolars.

My Ortho said to just wear my aligners at night and this feels so, so weird to not wear them during the day. I'm also feeling sensitive because I assume my teeth are moving on their own. He said I could wear them all day if I wanted BUT one is starting to split a little and I've already been wearing this same set for 3 weeks, idk if they'd make it another 3 if I wore them 24/7. Has anyone else been told to wear their aligners halfway through a treatment only at night during a pause? How did that go for you? I suspect it will be a tight fit putting them back on every night.
