Caribbean Beach or French Quarter - Skyliner down

Planning a trip for just me and my 8 year old for late January and need to make a decision about our hotel. The Skyliner will be down for annual maintenance for most of our stay. We will have a car (and will likely drive to all parks except MK) and we don’t mind stairs. Maybe there’s no wrong answer but I’d love your opinions. Price is nearly identical!

First Time Lodging Questions

Hi! I’m lucky enough to be headed up to the Yellowstone area for work over Labor Day weekend so I am flying up a few days early to explore the park. I arrive into Bozeman around 9 pm on Wednesday and then have to be at my work event by Friday around 6 pm (not nearly enough time but it’s what I’m able to do). There are a few available options in the park but I’m not sure if it’s safe to arrive after dark. I was thinking Mammoth Hotel the first night and maybe Lake Lodge Cabins the second night (there is a room available at the Old Faithful Inn but I’m not sure it’s worth the extra cost).

So, do I stay near Bozeman the first night to avoid arriving in the park after dark? Is it “worth it” to stay at Old Faithful Inn for one night?

WDW + Universal - is it too much?

I’ll be taking my 8 year old son to Orlando in Jan/Feb, we’ve been to WDW for the last 2 years and he’s obsessed with Nintendo so I thought we might change it up and do Universal instead this year but when I mentioned it he asked if we could do both. That feels like a lot but I’m down for whatever, he can easily go open-close at WDW and can walk 20,000 steps without complaining. We would have 8 full days in Orlando.

  1. Is this insane to do 7 parks in 8 days?
  2. What would your schedule look like if you wanted to do all 7 parks?

My turn to be the jerk who wouldn’t switch seats!

I’m on a long haul flight in my MCE aisle seat when a dad and son (6ish years old) get on and dad asks if I’d be willing to move back a row, aisle for aisle so he can sit with his son. I say, sure, no problem, I’m a mom so I understand. But then, I saw that his was a regular seat and not MCE and so I said I was sorry but I wouldn’t switch but window lady and I promised to help his son if needed. He said he understood, all good until mom comes back from Premium Economy and yells at me saying that since I’m a mom I should be ashamed of myself. However, I didn’t see her offering us her PE seat so she could be next to her son. I wanted to say that yeah, I’m a mom but I’ve never been seated away from my kids on a flight because I pay to pick my seats and if I notice an issue I take it to the gate agent as soon as possible to get it fixed. I’m pretty sure I’m in the right but maybe I am a big jerk.

Don’t recommend Camino Ways for the Via Francigena!

Currently in Sutri and I’ve been incredibly disappointed in our lodging that was organized by Camino Ways! In both Vetralla and Sutri our lodging has been miles from town and not the standard I expected given that they were labeled “superior.” Antica Laconda In Vetralla and Agriturismo Montefosco are the two that have been incredibly disappointing.

NSV 120 pounds down

I signed up for and completed a lifeguard certification program that included 3 days of in water rescue work and all of my classmates were 16-18 years old high school athletes and I crushed! I passed all of the assessments and had no problems keeping up and no one worried about rescuing me because of my size! There’s no way I could have done this pre-Zep. I’ve been in maintenance for 3 months and feel strong and energized, never thought I’d get to this point!

My daughter will turn 13 on our trip to DLR this summer and I want to do a fun celebration. She’s a very adventurous eater (little brother not so much). Where should I get a reservation? We’ll have park hoppers so either park would work. Thanks!
