Infantilization in desi marriages
People think that pedophilia only exists in cases such as the Epstein files, child marriages, but it goes so much deeper than that. In fact, so much of pedophilia is tied to infantilization, as well as our society’s infatuation with youthful marriages.
Phrases like “Get married when you’re young,” and, “You won’t be found attractive after 30,” only reveal the underlying obsession with youthfulness being viewed as a necessary attribute to socially acceptable marriages.
People don’t get ‘expired’ when they grow older, wrinkles don’t mean you’re unworthy of being loved, a woman does not become ‘useless’ just because she isn’t married off right after puberty. Our obsession with infantilism is disgusting.
Don’t even get me started on social media culture promoting anti-aging products. The capitalistic, as well as, patriarchal ideology of staying ‘youthful’ forever is a pedophilic deception of despising ourselves and the prospect of ever getting old.
I know this isn’t new to you guys. We recognize this flaw in our system, but you do realize it has to go much bigger than just noticing such a wrong? We need to accept aging as a much grander beauty in life, in ourselves, and in others, as well.
I hope we can become the ignition of a generation free from this flaw.
