I am building an iOS app based on Stoicism and the Memento Mori philosophy

Hi everyone,

About six months ago, I stumbled upon Stoicism, and it completely changed my perspective. The concept of Memento Mori hit me particularly hard—the realization that our time is finite and we should spend it meaningfully.

Since then, I’ve become much more goal-oriented. I wanted to make sure that each month has something worth remembering. As a developer, I decided to combine this philosophy with my long-time dream of building a mobile app. It’s been a hobby project of mine to help track the principles I’ve been trying to live by.

I’ve built three main features so far:

Life Journey Visualization: A visual representation of where you are in your life path. It’s a bit of a reality check, but very effective for staying grounded.

Milestone Tracking: This isn't for daily chores or habit tracking. It’s for "Big Rocks"—goals like learning an instrument, traveling to a specific country, or finishing a major project.

Memory Lane: This is my personal favorite. You can write a short summary and add a few key photos for each month. It’s not a massive gallery; it’s a monthly "essence." Since using it, I’ve found myself actively looking for positive, memorable moments just so I have something meaningful to record at the end of the month.

Tech Stack:

  • React Native / Expo Framework
  • Development Tools: Cursor AI, VS Code, Claude

I’d love to get your feedback/help/brainstorming:

I want to improve the app, but I want to keep it simple and focused on intentionality. What features or concepts do you think would make a "Stoic-inspired" app more useful for your daily life? What helps you stay out of "autopilot mode"?

The app is a pure hobby project—completely free, no ads, no subscriptions.

unLived - onboarding process - TestFlight

Hi All,
Could you help some practice with the onboarding process.

  1. What are your experiences, and what should I change?
  2. Have you noticed any bugs?
  3. Can you recommend any good solutions? I was thinking about animations, but I don't really know much about them—do you know of any good tools for that?

I created my first promo video for my app

Hi all,

For this video, I first looked for a solution that was fully automated and could be handled entirely by AI, but unfortunately, I couldn’t really find one whose results I was satisfied with. There’s still plenty of room for improvement on this video, but this is how it turned out on the first try :)

TOOLS:
- Promogen app (Mockup and motion)
- Capcut (cut and music)

Thank you Expo and all Team!

The first two times, I had issues with the paywall and the Terms and Privacy policy. The third time, however, I received approval very quickly. This is the first app I’ve ever created. It brings me immense joy that something I’ve created is now available to the world. It’s a simple app, but I really enjoyed making it, and I have several other ideas that I’m going to work on next.

Since I really enjoyed making it and consider it a hobby, I don’t plan on offering paid versions; at most, users can send donations.

unLived - My app is a simple track and memory life. You can set goals and track it. Make a memory wall.
I wanted to focus the goals and memories on showing a person’s age rather than a date; to me, that feels much more personal.

I welcome constructive ideas and feedback.

Third time's the charm

I built it on Windows via Expo because that’s the only OS I have right now, but I’ve already planned to switch, and since this hobby has been so enjoyable for me, I think I’ll invest in a MacBook—I’ve always wanted one anyway, so now at least I can justify it to myself :)
