ESC test run

I was contacted to assemble an AliExpress AM32 ESC for a friend's SCX30. This has a BEC set to 5.98V which is right on the edge of the voltage rating of the upgraded servo in the build.

I swapped on some tiny tires on my AX24 to reduce the torque multiplier of tall tires and to better simulate the much smaller SCX30 tires.

Pictures from OIF 2005-2006

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ffTzQdXmH7HGwCPAOUzDLXeeXxhU0cFT?usp=drive_link

This group of pictures is from the 1AD 2BCT TF 1-6 INF deployment from November 2005-2006. I was a 25U assigned to A. company 1-35 AR, and we had an infantry platoon from 1-6 INF assigned to us in place of a tank platoon, which was assigned to another company in 1-6 INF. We spent Nov 05 though May 06 in Camp Buehring Kuwait and May 06 through Nov 06 in Ramadi Iraq.

These pictures are from both places and feature all three A 1-35AR platoons on request of the 1SG, he tasked me with creating a video for the families back in Germany that featured everyone from the company. There is a very cheesy video with music he selected in there too. There are also pictures of the infantry platoon that was assigned to us as well as the fisters and ANGLICO teams we had.

If you know or recognize anyone in these pictures pass the link on to them.

Would it be frowned upon to share pictures from an Iraq deployment? I have a large collection of photos from my second deployment in 2006 to Ramadi with Alpha company 1/35AR. There is also a video slideshow I was tasked with creating by our 1SG, all of the photos and the video are family friendly. I don't want to violate the privacy of anyone on purpose but I realize that I might be the only person that has these and they could be important to the soldiers that are in them.

These are all in a Google Drive link because there are so many.

I'll have a hot Rip-it and a Camel Wide please.

This build is one of my oldest and it has a set of axles under it that have been assembled for 3 years. I built it before I knew about modifying axle housings for improving the steering angle. I took a Dremel to the front housing and removed a lot of material to allow the knuckles more space to move. I also used a knurled screw and an electric screwdriver to open the lower screw holes so that screws are almost flush. I gained a lot more steering angle and cleaned up the bottom a bit.

I am in the process of building my Salty Micro Raven and I am taking my time and building it to the best of my abilities. Custom length wiring is a way to bring any build to the next level. I cut the power wire, motor wire and signal wiring down on my ESC to fit exactly where and how I wanted them to. I directly soldered the motor wires for a cleaner look, and the servo wiring is exactly how long it needs to be and exactly where it needs to be. I will be covering that wire in 550 cord too as soon as I am finished with some additional wiring I'm working on.

Here is a build breakdown for Mater.

This build took me a while to make it just right but I feel it is as perfect as I can get it.

Stock chassis rails (trimmed), skid, axle housings, and shocks.

Brass Deadbolt lower links and plastic Y link up front, and aluminum C10 front links and plastic Y link in the rear, cut up stock servo mount for the rear link mount.

RC4WD BFG KM3 tires, with Flubz, on RC4WD stamped steel wheels.

MoFo TorqueBeast X 20k motor, it has an Injora MB100 ESC now, FS2A receiver and Palm Beach Bots 2s battery. It had a Lizard Pro but it doesn't like this motor or battery, or maybe it's dying.

It had a RampCrab 2.6kg servo on it with an adjustable brass PowerHobby mount. The servo died and a 6kg RampCrab was swapped in.

The front axle has brass knuckles, 33% OD, and a modified stock steering link.

The skids are GAC Racing, the driveshafts are plastic, the plastics are 3D printed random parts I had in my parts box.

The body is from a toy I bought back in 2023 that is no longer in production but they're available on eBay. The wheels were painted by me, and I added a single LED with magnet connections, and polished aluminum tape as mirrors.

All comp rigs don't look alike! I'm not saying my rigs are competitive outside of my local hobby shop and the courses there, but they do fairly well on that terrain.
