Yesterday in the Jefferson structure, your back tire was over into the next space. I thought I could fit, but I grazed your hubcap with my tire and I heard it crack.

Hey, guys-

So I recently installed a JeepAir A/C kit for my 2001 2.5L. Has anyone ever had a spring lock coupling fail while the system’s at pressure?

I had my low pressure line explosively disconnect from the condenser during the initial charging (about one can of Freon in, so just under halfway charged. High pressure gauge was about 180psi out of a maximum 250.) I figured I must not have locked it properly, so I took it to a mechanic to verify everything else was properly locked and charge the system for me.

The mechanic called and said they had the other spring lock on the low pressure line disconnect while they charged it, and blamed a low quality kit. They gave it back to me unfinished and said an AC system should never be using spring lock couplings because of the high pressure.

Now I can’t find any other TJ A/C system online that doesn’t use spring locks. And when I called JeepAir, they were confident that those couplings simply weren’t locked. I also don’t see any evidence of catastrophic damage when I look at the two couplings that disconnected.

Are spring lock failures a thing, or do we think JeepAir is right, I failed to lock them, and the mechanic didn’t catch the other unlocked coupling before charging it?
