Brass or overdrive?

What would be a good upgrade for more performance for the trx4? Brass up front or over drive? I will probably do both at some point but what would give me the most performance? I do like to trail my 1/10 rig a lot, and not sure how much the Traxxas overdrive will affect that ability?

Would the ascent 18 be a good crawler for my wife to join her brother and I when we crawl? I want to get her something that is good out of the box, and won’t require any major mods to keep up. We both have pretty modded 1/24 scale crawlers.
