How much is a fair asking salary?

Just wanted to get your insights.

Role:
\-People Manager
\-Handling 11 direct reports
\- Accounts Payable
\-Technically, wala na masyadong leg work kasi yung direct reports yung gagawa. More of reviewer, assistance and people management lang talaga
\-onsite for the first 6 months then hybrid na
\-mid shift

Me:
\- First time na maging people manager (may experience naman outside work pero technically, if in a professional setting, this would be the first time)
\- Technically, I am NOT qualified for the role (based sa minimum requirements ng job posting) but for after the interviews, I have received an offer. I’m including this part because I feel na wala akong masyadong leverage as to skills and experience.
\- I would have to commute ng mga 2-3 hours to work but relocation is an option naman since Im just resting.

Given these factors, how much should be my asking salary? Its my first time kasi to be offered a people manager role and so di ko alam if im being lowballed or not.

Your insights would be a great help!

How would you feel if your immediate superior is younger than you?

Recently received a JO for a supervisor role. It would be my first time being a people manager. And I would be handling 11 people. Most of them are older than me, have more work experience than me (in terms of years of working), and have already been in the company for years.

My concern is baka may push back or resentment.

I honestly do not know why I got the job at bakit hindi internal promotion ang nangyari sa kanila. But I also try to believe na kaya ko kasi I skipped the final interview kasi the hiring manager hired me on the spot.

But definitely my worry pa din. If you were my direct report, anong approach kaya yung magiging expectations mo? Or ano kaya ang gusto mong way na ihandle ka?

Global Payments Inc

Saw that they have several job posting for accounting roles. How much kaya ang salary for their accounting supervisor position? Also, kamusta kaya culture nila doon? Tapos yung supervisor ba is supervisory role talaga meaning people manager or IC role lang siya na pang mataas na position yung title?

Would appreciate your honest feedback or thoughts on this company!

I made a bad career move and I don’t know what to do

A company reached out. Nag agree ako na mag interview and eventually I accepted their offer because of the salary bump. However, first week ko pa lang, I realized I made a bad decision kasi sobrang toxic.

  1. Everyone on the team was just hired this year. Apparently, the entire team resigned and their positions were vacant for over a year. How did the company survive without the team? I dont know. Why did the entire team resign? i also dont know. But they did not leave any working paper or any reference. Here’s the catch. During the interview, I was told they were building a new team. Nagresign pala lahat yung dati. Idk lang but building a new team is way easier than fixing the mess other people left and was left a mess for over a year. What does this mean since lahat kami bago? No turn overs. And again, walang prior year working paper.

  2. I was told na hybrid siya. 3 days onsite and 2 days wfh. But my boss ( na new hire din) often requires me na mag onsite palagi. The hybrid set up was part of the reason I accepted the offer :( also, my boss here did not interview me kasi wala pa siya nun.

  3. My boss makes me work on weekends, holidays and nag oovertime sa office. Minsan 8-10 hours overtime for 2 weeks straight. And all of that is WITHOUT PAY. Honestly, idk where he gets the audacity na ipag overtime ang tao niya na walang bayad.

  4. On my first week pa lang, i realized that the representations made when they were trying to hire me was NOT what was actually happening. At this point, the salary jump no longer justifies the amount of work and unpaid overtime I am rendering.

  5. During those heavy times, nag offer naman yung company na magbook ng hotel for me near the office. Para daw uuwi ako sa hotel ng 3am tapos ligo lang, idlip saglit tapos makakablik ako ng office by 8am hahaha di ko kinaya. I asked if pwede na ot pay na lang ang ipang babayad sana sa hotel. Its a no.

  6. Pinadala ako ng 1 week sa office namin sa mindanao. I had to pay everything first then reimburse na lang daw. I spent around 15k and up until now, di pa inaapprove ng boss ko yun kahit ilang beses na ako nagsabi. Ewan ko ano problema nya.

  7. 3 months pa lang ako sa company now and sukang suka na ako sa sobrang toxic. Nanahimik ako sa dati kong work and here they come offering “better” work only to find out it was much much worse. I blame myself really for this bad career move. Gusto ko na magresign kahit wala pa ako malilipatan.

Idk if im just being GenZ but my entire stay here, mas madami akong unpaid work and overtime compared sa uuwi ako ng on time.

Reasonable pa ba yung buong holy week pinagtrabaho ako, pati weekends. Tapos I’m not talking about 1-2 hours na overtime. 8 hours overtime for 2 straight weeks. Wala pang pahinga kasi pati weekend magwowork. Tapos lahat yan no pay.

Would you resign?

Context:

During the interview, these were what I noted:

  1. They told me they were building a new team for this new finance dept.
  2. It wasnt disclosed during JO discussion, so I asked it via email (so documented), OT is not paid, but overtime daw is “discouraged”.
  3. Hybrid set-up. May 2x a week na wfh.

The actual set-up when I was onboarded:

  1. Apparently, the team has existed na pala. It’s just that the ENTIRE old team resigned. Around 1 year walang tao sa team.

Yung understanding ko was, we were to build processes from scratch, so we would decide the SLAs. In reality, we have to pick up pala and fix what was left from the old team. Statutory reports were not being submitted. Books needed major cleaning and fixing. Alot of entries did not make sense- in essence unreconcilable. Just imagine na 1 year walang accounting team. Kung saan saan sila nag bobook ng entries.

All of us in the “new” team just started this year.

The old team left no working papers. Like as in wala. So I am building everything from scratch. Okay sana kung ako yung unang gagawa pero kasi icocontinue ko gawa nila na wala naman akong idea paano yun

  1. My boss asks me to work overtime. I often go home ng 11PM. Sometimes 1am. Worse 6am the following day. He asks me to work on weekends and holidays too. Need pa mag OT nun. Again, all of that was unpaid. On my 4th day sa job, pinag OT nya na ako gang 11pm. On my entire 3 month stay, mas madami akong unpaid OT kaysa sa days na ontime ako uuwi.

He isn’t hesitant to ask me na mag OT, weekend/holiday work kahit alam nyang hindi bayad.

I understand the work needs to be done and deadlines need to be met. Nangasim lang ako nung ang ask ako magleave tapos di nya inapprove. I mean, he asks me to do free labor eh so I was expecting him to be considerate.

  1. He asks me na mag onsite whole week kasi busy daw. Now one of the reasons kasi why I accepted the job is kasi hybrid. Pag nakakapag wfh naman, need namin mag join ng meeting sa google meet. Wala lang, nasa call lang kami the entire work day. Baliw ata tong boss ko.

  2. Boss isnt the boss I was expecting. He is blatantly unsure of things. Expectations ko was if may di ako alam, sa kanya ko matatanong. Baliktad. If meron siyang di naayos na numbers, binabato nya sakin kasi di nya daw alam. He never reviews my work kasi probably hindi nya din alam. I learn nothing from him. Walang boss wisdom. Cant delegate tasks properly.

Added context: I did not apply for this job. They recruited me. My role is similar to my previous work kaya di na ako masyadong need turuan. Napa accept lang ako bc of the pay and the representations sa work set up.

Recently, I’ve been going home early. Not early early. Mga 1 hour unpaid OT lang. surprised palagi boss ko na uuwi na ako. I just make up “valid” reasons tapos sasabihin ko mag WFH na lang ako pero di talaga ako nagwowork. Di din ako nagseseen na pagweekends.

I fear di ako mareregular bc of this. But actually, i HATE this job. Im planning to resign na but worry ko is baka panget sa resume ko yung short stay lang sa company. Also, baka di ako maregular tapos wala pa akong nahahanap na new work

Always dreamed of working at BSP. Paano kaya makapasok? I always apply for whatever pooling position they post (yung google drive na mag uupload ng resume haha) but I always get rejected lol. I read somewhere na around 30x daw siya nag apply before siya nakuha. Baka may lifehacks kayo hehe
