[AlpenFury] blew my expectations AGAIN (trip report)

Yesterday, I gone back to my home park, Canada's Wonderland, from open to close. The park is overall better than it was last year, with the operations for the bigger rides being quite good from my experience. It actually seemed very empty for the first 2 or so hours after opening (or everyone was queueing for AlpenFury) and I got on some rides basically walk on. But what did I ride, you ask?

Rides (in order of when I rode them)

Vortex

Shockwave

The Fly

Mighty Canadian Minebuster

Backlot Stunt Coaster

Behemoth

Silver Streak

Taxi Jam

Ghoster Coaster

Lumberjack

Dragon Fyre

The Bat

AlpenFury

Wilde Beast

Riptide

Now for my thoughts about the rides

Vortex x2

This was both my first and last ride of the day. The first time I got on Vortex was at about 10:15, and even then it felt like it was hauling. The swinging was great, and so were the positives. The transitions between some of the elements were a tad bit iffy, but not painful, and it just made us swing even more, and the swinging on the break run was demented as usual. My second ride was in complete darkness, at about 9:50, and this ride was WAY better than the first one. Once you dropped off the mountain, that was the end of your free trial of sight, cause it was DARK. All you could see were the rides in the distance, and the silhouettes of trees flying by you. The swinging this time was downright aggressive, and the positives really packed on for that ride. When we hit the break run, I could've sworn we were about to hit a support beam from how much we were swinging. (I know we wouldn't have) Vortex is and 8.5/10 for me. It excels at providing an intense ride.

Shockwave x1

This was a complete walk on, and it was just as good as the last time I was on it. It just whips you everywhere, and hangs you when it switches directions. a fun ride. 7/10

The Fly x1

For my first wild mouse, this was actually pretty good. The drops were nice, and the hairpin turns produced some good laterals, and made it feel like you would fly off the track. Basically it was walk on.

Mighty Canadian Minebuster x8

I have no clue what the fuck the retrack did to this thing, but it is AMAZING now. Both the back and front row give outstanding airtime (Imma call it flo-jector right now, cause it throws you, but you also float there.) and the ride as a whole is WAY smoother than even last year. If you can get yourself some airtime room on this ride, then you will be out of your seat more than you are in it. I recomend a night ride, but then the ride is all warmed up, and you are getting tossed out of your seat over every hill. AND THE HELIX IS BUTTER SMOOTH. (a fever dream, I know) That new hill that they added gives great ejector airtime, with some room, you are just pinned to your lapbar. We (us, everybody) love (admire, look up to) the Gravity Group. 8.5/10

Backlot Stunt Coaster x5

This is a fun little coaster. The launch is punchy and the helix made me gray out a few times. Aside from just that, it is also pretty whippy, and the finale with the headchopper and the 2 airtime moments. What I am trying to say, is that it does what it wants to do well. It is butter smooth to. My only complaint (and it's not even about the ride itself) is getting into the trains. The car design of them makes them a bit compact. 7.5/10

Behemoth x1

This thing was practically a walk on, which was quite surprising, due to the fact that it's the second tallest coaster in the park. My ride on Behemoth this year was worse than the one I had last year, but it had nothing to do with the ride itself. The ride op decided to make my lap personally aquainted with the restraint :( . So yeah. I got airtime, but nowhere near as much as on Minebuster and AlpenFury (which is actually an airtime machine, as I will discuss later). Honestly, aside from the first drop, the highlight for me was probably all of the bone-crushing positives in the valleys and the helixes. Still a top tier ride for me, I just hope I don't get stapled next time. 9/10

Silver Streak x1

for it's model having a nickname such as "Hang n' bang", I wasn't expecting a great ride. But ya know what? It wasn't half bad. Sure, it shook me around, and the transitions were questionable at times, it was still kinda fun, there was no pain, and it was tame enough to appeal to families. One of the other downsides though was the fact that they were running single train operations. Overall, it was nothing really special, but it does what it wants to do well. 5.5/10

Taxi Jam x1

I swear, with the wait that this fuckass ride had, I could have gone on Behemoth like 3 or so times. Plus, it's a small coaster, so the wait was not at all worth the ride, plus when I did finally get on, the kid behind me was screaming as if he was getting maimed or something, which was the cherry on top to make this my least favourite coaster in the park. Not because the overall ride is bad, it's supposed to be little jimmy's first roller coaster, just cause that it's kinda boring to me. If there is one thing I like though, it's the themeing. The themeing is very cute. 3.5/10

Ghoster Coaster x1

The line was longer than taxi jam's, which in hindsight, doesn't surprise me that much, because even though they were running 2 trains, the operations absolutely sucked ass. Though I feel bad for saying this, cause for all I know, the ride ops were new. Anyway, when we finally got on the ride, it was pretty solid. It actually gave legit airtime, the first drop gave the most, along with the various bunny hops on the ride. This ended up being my favourite family coaster. 6/10

Lumberjack x1

This was fun, made funny by my brother cussing me out the whole ride. the swinging is giggle inducing, and the hangtime at the top is great, nothing much else about this to say aside that it was fun. 7/10

Dragon Fyre x3

Every park needs a coaster like this. A classic arrow looper that serves as history, while also being little jimmy's first inverting coaster. The drop gives some airtime in the very back row, (which isn't difficult to get, considering this is walk on a lot of the time) and the loops are very forceful, as if they are trying to make you and the seat merge into one. the turn is very awkwardly profiled, which only adds to the fun for me. The corkscrews are also bumpy, but it's the kind that makes you laugh. The helix is nothing special though. But I love this little ride, and I hope the keep it, as a piece of history. 7/10

The Bat x1

This was a lot taller that I had expected. And fairly smooth. the cobra roll was fun, but the loop, particularly the backwards loop was the highlight of the ride. You get crushed into your seat both directions, though backwards is way more intense, since you don't know when anything is coming. I swear I also got some hangtime on the backwards cobra roll. It was fun, but nothing too special. 6.5/10

AlpenFury x2

Honestly, I am glad I got to ride this twice (in a row), which is one more time than I was expecting. This ride has it all. If you like punchy launches, AlpenFury has it (and then some). If you like speed, AlpenFury has it. If you like balls-to-the-wall intensity, AlpenFury has it. If you like hangtime, AlpenFury has is. If you like skull-crushing positives, AlpenFury has it. If you like airtime, AlpenFury has a LOT of it. And if you like inversions, I don't think I have to finish the sentence. (AlpenFury has it) From the first launch to the brakes you are either being pinned into your seat, getting thrown out of it, or getting tossed around it. The waits were WAY better that last year, and it even hit 1 hour midday (which Is how I got 2 rides). Now about the ride. The first launch is very punchy, and the hill after it gives amazing ejector (which gets even better on the left side of the train). Once you enter the tunnel, you get launched so powerfully (and quickly) that it feels like you are about to get flattened, and the g forces persist all the way up into the double-inverted top hat, until you reach the climax of it, where you float and get thrown around at the same time. Once you get whipped out of the top hat, you get a great moment of pure speed, with the wind flowing through your hair, until you get whipped to the left, throwing you to the side the flipping you back, before throwing you into the zero-g-stall, which gives great hangtime, while also giving a really cool view of the midway below you. Once you flip out of the stall, you go into the sky flyer loop, which might be the most forceful helix in the whole park, you get crushed into your seat on this thing, until the positives finally let up, and you get tossed out and into the right side of your seat on the inversion. Then you got into the ice winder roll, which gives upside down ejector airtime on each roll, making for one great element for airtime. Then comes the fire serpent roll, with the upwards barrel roll, providing some cool forces, until the highlight of the element, the downwards corkscrew, which absolutely EJECTS you out of your seat while upside down, which might be the strongest upside down ejector moment on the ride. Here though, is by FAR my favourite finale of any coaster I have done (which isn't a lot, but my family doesn't really travel out of Canada, much to my dismay). After the corkscrew, while you are still ejected, you suddenly get crushed back into your seat, which is probably my favourite segway of negative to postitve force, because of how fast it happens and how strong each force is. After getting crushed, you get throw into the ride's airtime hill, which provides amazing ejector, then you go into the zero-g-roll, and you are out of your seat for the entire roll. You then go into a double up that gives 2 strong pops of ejector (the first pop being the stronger of the 2) and then you hit the brakes, wondering what the fuck just happened, and why was it peak? For such an inversion heavy ride, you could not expect just how many times, you get thrown out of your seat, especially whilst upside down! You really need to ride it multiple times to just soak in what an amazing ride this is. Premier Rides has given us a miracle of a coaster, and I feel privileged to have this just over half and hour from me. For those who have yet to ride AlpenFury. Book a trip to Canada's Wonderland NOW. There is nothing quite like it. 11/10

Wilde Beast x1

From an elite, world class ride, to one that feels like it has square fucking wheels. Wilde Beast is fun, and definitely lives up to the "Wilde" part of its name, and will batter your brains out. If you manage to get airtime room, expect some actually pretty good airtime on the first drop. Also expect however, for this to be the first and only airtime you will get on this ride. Because the valley is so rough, that it just decides you're not safe enough, and will kindly fucking staple you. Bye bye airtime. Aside from that, it feels like taking a shopping cart with square wheels, and riding it down a gravel road. But probably worse. I still found it fun, but if there is one ride I see CW removing, it's this one. 6/10

Riptide x1

This thing is all about the hangtime and swinging, and it is very fun. When you tilt forward, you feel yourself fall out of the seat, only held by the restraint, and your can feel pressure build in your head as your blood pools. Intense for sure. 7.5/10

My overall rating for the day was a 10/10. I got majority of my missing credits, and we got what we wanted to get done, and had fun doing it!

(P.S. GO RIDE ALPENFURY)

Reworking Brawler rarities

I added a rarity in between Legendary and Mythic, Aberrant. For those brawlers who have some somewhat complicated mechanics but not enough to warrant them being legendary

u/FarPicture3761 — 3 months ago

I ranked all brawlers(again) based off how powerful I think they are

I based this list off in game abilities, descriptions, logic, and how deadly they would be in the real world (so brawlers like crow are HEAVILY dragged down by their real world counterparts) So brawlers like say, colt, who are just average joe schmoes without their guns are gonna be taken down a notch. (there are 2 hanks on the list because one is with, and the other is without the tank) feel free to ask for clarification on the ranks of some of the brawlers
