We are a first gen East Asian couple living in the states. Last name is single syllable if that helps

Names we like:

Midsize wars: Kona vs Dragonfly Plus vs Silver cross Breez

I did an absolutely unhinged amount of research on these three midsize strollers the last few days and thought maybe it could help some other poor soul who is also lost in the midsize stroller sauce

Crazy to me that the product differentiation in this category comes down to such minute details but here we are

I was able to see the silver cross breez and the bugaboo dragonfly plus in stores but not the uppababy Kona. They all weigh about the same (21-22lbs), have about the same size wheels, compatibility with a bunch of car seats, pairable with safe sleep bassinet, foldable with reversible seats in either direction etc.

Silver cross Breez $850:
+ best fabrics out of the three brands IMO. The straps felt plush
+ folding bassinet
+ mesh panel in back
+ has a heel rest
+ superior suspension IMO. Really smooth push
+ two heights for the seat
- trickier fold. It took me like 4 tries to get it right in store and my husband also found it tricky
- buckle must always be used with shoulder straps
- saw online that silver cross had not as great customer service
- silver cross is super slow with compatible accessories. For example No snack tray available yet for breez despite it being out for a while

Bugaboo Dragonfly plus $1099:
+ folding bassinet
+ has the best heel rest out of the three
+ canopy comes down really far for sun protection
+ folds with the handle up, not down. This was my favorite thing about it
+ buckle can be used without shoulder straps which is cool for older child
+ longest warranty (4 years extended)
- accessories are more expensive than Uppababy. Like a snack tray and adaptor for the dragonfly is like $90 whereas Uppababy is like 60.
- folds kind of long with bassinet
- most expensive option. Like super expensive
- some retailers say it’s newborn ready recline but others say it is not. Bugaboo says it is newborn ready which is confusing. The recline wasn’t as far as the silver cross IMO
- the previous dragonfly had issues. Not sure if this one will have the same

Uppababy Kona $650:
+ biggest basket out of them all
+ canopy has two adjustable heights
+ best price
+ Uppababy service is supposedly great in the US
+ Uppababy has the travel bag insurance thing
+ Uppababy has lots of accessories right off the bat ready for the Kona
+ from the videos I’ve seen, the fold looks super easy
- no heel rest
- buckle must always be used with shoulder straps
- no folding bassinet

Who else preordered the Uppababy Kona?

I did 👋🏻 hoping this wasn’t a mistake to order before it’s been tried and tested by folks. But I guess someone needs to be an early adopter and that’s me this time!

How important are third party crash ratings?

Hi CPSTs! We were planning on getting the Cybex Callisto G 360 but saw that they did poorly on Consumer Reports and BabyGearLab third party crash ratings compared to other rotating car seats. This is our first time buying a car seat so we don’t know how much weight to place on third party crash evaluations. We understand that every car seat sold in the US needs to pass federal regulations. We are getting a bit confused seeing online comments saying that third party crash tests sometimes aren’t the best indicator of safety based on test parameters.

Our priorities are safety and comfort for our backs and the baby haha.

Thank you!
