Calling the creatives. Let’s see some recent work.

I picked up pottery as a hobby two years ago. I’m completely obsessed. Had this birdbath come out of the kiln this weekend and I’m thrilled with how it turned out!

Share your recent work and let’s see what all the ladies are making!

The kiln gods were kind.

This is my second glaze batch where I rented a kiln at my community studio. Super pleased with the results.

Anyone here live in New England, specifically Vermont?

I am considering moving to Vermont. I dont know anyone there and I’m a little hesitant to relocate at my age without a network of any kind. I’ve moved across the country before without knowing anyone where I would land, and I know I’ll get through it. But the first several months are tough. I’m looking for some inspiration and maybe some insight on life there as a middle aged single lesbian.

Finally a few successful yarn bowls

A few months ago I got some excellent tips for making yarn bowls. After a lot of practice, I’ve finally thrown and successfully fired a few I’m proud of. Thanks community!

First 15 pound piece!

I had 15 pounds of white clay I wanted to get rid of, so I decided to just go for it and try throwing it all at once. Most I’ve thrown previously was 10 pounds and that was only once. I’m comfortable in the 5-7 pound range. She’s going to be a big planter. So thrilled I was able to pull this off.

Deleted the apps. Just going to start a Golden Girls house.

I’ve never been fond of the apps. I’ve had a few good dates and a lot of bad ones. Mostly I’ve had numerous text exchanges, and as a woman who prefers face to face communication, I refuse to get to know someone by text.

So instead of dating, I’m just going to buy a house in a place I really want to be and rent out the bedrooms to fellow older lesbians. Or, buy some land and put a bunch of tiny homes on it. Hopefully at least one goes to a gardener and another to someone who enjoys power tools. We can share the cooking and cleaning duties, and go out for bingo night or salsa dancing.

Trying out new things! A bird bath in the works.

This is a red, groggy stoneware clay. Threw the basin and base on the wheel, then connected them. She’s currently drying. This is my first try with this form. Goal is to make them larger.
