limited Budget -- want one or two Miami Beach dinners

So I'll be down in Miami beach for a few days next month. I'm open pretty much to all foods. I'm from the middle of no where America FWIW.

I've been doing some research and I've come up with these spots. Any thoughts on worth it or not? I don't mind spending the money but I don't wanna feel ripped off.

  1. Joe's Stone Crab
  2. Macchalina (heard their pasta was very good)
  3. Stubborn Seed
  4. Yard Bird
  5. Essancia (I think that's a restaurant in a hotel)

ALSO, am told that many restaurants on Miami Beach auto include a, "service charge." Is that the tip? Or am I expected to tip 20% on top of that?

Visiting Miami (1st time) from small town America. best pool?

I don't know if this even makes sense.

But where's the best pool on Miami beach that allows non hotel guests?

I want like a sceney place -- like I'm imaging very attractive folks all sun bathing and drinking.

If it matter and I think it does -- i'm not in great shape. And I'll be alone. Not sure if it's like a club situation where I likely won't be allowed in.

Staying at the Palms hotel in September. Wine bars / restaurants?

I've had a tough but good year work wise and I'm finally in shape (long time coming) and am treating myself to Miami (never been) 1st week in September. I'm male / American / 46. I want to drink coffee / read / relax at beach / pool and have good food and wine.

Any suggestions?

I'm more asleep by 11 and up at 6 vibe.

How much to tip pool / beach staff and is Miami Spice Week truly a great deal?

1st time Miami Beach Visitor and I can't wait. Going in August! I know it's gonna be hot but I can't afford high season.

I'll be at a (really nice for me) hotel that I'm told is in, "mid beach."

My resort fee covers the pool and beach chairs (apparently hotel has their own umbrellas / chairs / towels portion of the beach) I understand it's not private but they said they don't sell day passes.

I believe -- but could be wrong -- that there is staff that sort of organizes all of this.

If so are they expecting a tip? If so, how much?

Also it seems that I will be there during Miami Spice week?

Is it truly a good deal?

Is 55 minutes long enough to make connection at FCO?

Seeing a ITA flight from JFK -- FCO -- TLV but the time between the arriving flight and departing flight is only 55 minutes at FCO.

I'm a US passport holder. Can I make that? I'm not an experienced traveler but 55 minutes to deplane and do whatever I need to in order to board the next plane to TLV seems way too short?

Am i missing something here?

btw now and end of year best month to travel to Israel?

I'll mostly be in TLV but will take day trips to JLM and up north (haifa maybe?). I've been to israel twice now both in june and i didn't think too hot at all. I enjoyed both visits a lot.

What month would you guys suggest? Still want it to be warm enough to enjoy the beach. But like everyone I prefer to pay less than more. I'm very flexible in terms of dates.
