What we love about Loustat

I mean, they are obviously really really beautiful, but what’s your favourite thing about this tumultuous couple?

Favourite Loustat moment from TVL?

I can’t remember if we’ve had this discussion already, but even if we have, I’d love to hear about it again!

I’m going to be obvious and choose the “Brutal Love” scene. They did so much with that song: not just Lestat making clear that he still wants Louis more than anything, but Louis acknowledging that he wants that too (with his eyes, I tell you!). And Gabriella realizing that she will never have the hold over Lestat the Louis does, and that, with Louis, he won’t need her or be as vulnerable to her manipulation. Plus, the song is gorgeous and Sam performs it beautifully.

Also, “strings, you could do more” cracks me up every time.

Stuck here for now

I can’t wait to discuss the finale with you all! Then we will have to decide how to survive the next hiatus. 😭

What’s your favourite VC book, and has that changed over time?

I was very into the VC back in the day - obsessed with the books, owned the comics, loved the film. IwtV was by far my favourite, and I absolutely adored Louis. Then TotBT came out and … I hated it. I couldn’t understand its focus, and it ruined Lestat for me. After Memnoch came out, I gave up on the VC entirely. I didn’t even see QotD until recently.

Then the tv adaptation got me back into the books and I’ve been working my way through them. I was surprised to find, this time around, that I adore TotBT. It’s not just a good read, it also makes Lestat a more complicated and interesting character. I think I was too young to understand how the book was depicting trauma.

Anyone else find their opinions on the books changing over time?
