Coffee shop master post

Wanted to make a master list of most highly rated coffee shops in Syracuse, so here we are!

I came here from Rochester, and have been spoiled by Roc’s more well-established cafes (Java’s, Leaf and Bean, SPoT (RIP), Starry Nites (RIP), Boulder, etc).

Which shops scratch the 24/7 cafe itch, even if Syracuse’s service hours don’t extend so late? Any hidden gems?

**tacking this on as a prompt for y’all: what makes this coffee shop special/different from the rest for you? Why do you like this one more? :)

Dropped iPhone 16 in freshwater creek. How to proceed?

As title says; I followed standard protocol from Apple (powered down immediately). I had to run an errand after leaving the creek, so I left the phone upright against the wall of a cup holder in my car for about an hour. Case was still on for that time. Once I got home, I took the phone out of the case and dried it with a microfiber cloth, dried the case as well. I discovered late that I was supposed to rest the phone horizontally, so now it's horizontal and sitting in front of a fan.

How long do I need to wait before powering on/charging, and would it be any better for me to open the phone up? I don't have a warranty on it I don't think. I exchanged my 16 Plus for it about 6 months ago. I clean controllers and consoles, laptops sometimes so I'm not afraid to open it up if it would be helpful.

Lost wallet near Thompson

It’ll be a long shot, but I lost it around 11:15 am yesterday 5/20, somewhere between my stop at Dunkin on Thompson and Megaton on James. It’s a little brown trifold, has an ID in it with my maiden name. Shoot me a PM if you find/have found! Thanks for your help.

90 sec Jasmine/Basmati smells terrible?

The Earthly Grains Jasmine and Basmati pouches are normally one of my regular buys.

In the 9+ years I’ve been a customer with Aldi I’ve never had a problem with the pouches until just within the last month.

When I open them up, they emit this foul smell. It honestly smells like a really sulfuric fart. Cooking it only makes the smell worse. It doesn’t matter which Aldi I go to, all of them have the same few batches/lots, and they’re all absolutely rancid.

Is there a recall? I’ll file a complaint either way. This is just so confusing. I’ve never had an issue up to this point.

As title states: had a pair of older 1080s when I first started running, found out they were the v6 line. Have since retired them, but I LOVED how they felt on long runs. They were responsive enough for me, maybe a little heavy but that’s my only complaint.

I have the 1080v14s now and they are too mushy, too stacked, and I don’t feel stable enough, nor that I get enough return. Long runs (ran the boilermaker 15k last summer) and races just don’t feel good. I feel it in my right ankle and low back/IT band most. I definitely fought my second 5k with the duathlon I did last summer also.

I average about 10-15 miles per week right now and intend to up it to 20-25, and after a season off I’m slow, but I’m trying to get myself back to a 9 min mile/18-20min 5k. Tempo runs are BAD on the 1080v14s for me.

What shoe might be better for me, do you think? I don’t know that I want a nylon plate yet.
