How do we fix our craft?

I'm in the architectural millwork industry. I run a department and handle submittal drawings, engineering, CAM, install. I CANNOT find people who can dimension a drawing or format an actual submittal set.

I'm only 34, I devoted my whole life to the trade - the 60 year olds under me are worse than the new guys. I'm getting drawings back with dimensions on paperspace or geometry at 89.99 degrees.

WHAT resource needs to be corrected to fix drafting in the US? I'm trying to create SOPs on how to dimension from the overall to divisions, organizing leaders, templating, etc but it feels like there's something fundamental missing.

Are there any new guys browsing this sub? I'd like to hear what struggles you usually have or where your training is lacking.

Would like to hear from everyone elses experiences as well lol. I have a whole weekend of redrawing ahead of me. Feels like my fault for not training enough.

Prescribed vraylar, can anyone tell me their experiences?

Never took an antipsychotic before and I'm terrified lol. I'm on venlafaxine right now. I'm seeing a psychiatrist (obv) and was recently diagnosed with Bipolar/mdd. My next appointment is in two months, he told me to call if I have side effects....

I just can't find any recent experiences with this medication. It might BE my mental illness but I just feel distrustful.

How have you guys coped with these type of feelings?

Chicago $100k salary for Remote Department Head (architectural millwork), is this decent?

Hey everyone :)

Didn't know this sub existed and looking forward to talking to y'all. I'm in a really strange work situation with my pay/position, wondering if I could get some advice:

I was contacted by a very large (350mill, 10k+ employee company) engineering firm who wanted to "explore a new vertical" which was high end architectural millwork. Think fancy interiors, cabinetry, woodwork, etc. This idea came from a client who approached them wanting to partner.

This client is doing 10 million dollar residential jobs... It's the highest level work I've ever seen. After a year, I have the department running with 10 people staffed and my systems are working out!

However... my scope keeps expanding and my salary stays the same. I am working 60 hour weeks with no OT pay. I find the work, manage the clients, train the team, bill the hours, manage the files, AND am deeply involved in the projects.

I'm also being asked to do face to face meetings with other companies with no commission for the sales I'm making... It's kind of free work.

In the beginning I was super honored and excited to be working on the best projects. But friends, I am tired. My tummy hurts lol. Is 100k worth the 2 ulcers I've acquired :(

It's very rambling, I'm sorry. Thank you for reading. I feel like a jerk for complaining about $100k when people are making less than $60,000

what i'm smoking

Just going to compile a short list of illinois strains/brands I'm smoking and their harvest dates. It's going to be short though - feel free to add suggestion. Freshness has made a big difference for me so I like to include harvest dates. Buying from GTI/T&T makes me feel dirty.

GTI - Rhythm - Runtz S1 2026 - 2 - 23 harvest

GTI - Rhythm - Animal Face 2026 - 2 - 23 harvest

T&T - Closet Gremlin - 2026 - 1 -15 harvest (definitely showing some age)

I've got a bunch of Nez to try on my list. Let me know what you guys are smoking

Advice on capitalizing on $100k salary

Nice to meet everyone here. I manage a few engineering teams remotely, in this last year I've set up some systems in our department and trained a second in command to the point where I have a lot of free time.

I am getting $100k pre tax yearly (only 2 years at this salary) and just paid off all my medical debt, which was substantial (united health care denials). So I'm kind of starting back at square one. I have $10k in savings right now. I'm slated for a $15k raise by the end of the year but I'll believe it when I see it lol

I'm 34 and don't really know how to set a solid, mature plan if I'm being honest. For now I'm just saving, but parking it in my bank account feels like a mistake. How do you capitalize on your savings/excess money?

Should I start thinking about different investment vehicles, or ideas I can use with my time?

I tend to meander, apologies.

Thanks for the help, I'm very clueless when it comes to money. Excited to learn more

Found on the highway!!! 8' long, 11-1/4" wide, 2-1/4" thick... I think maybe walnut?

Dents with a nail if I push, but pretty hard. Heavy. Barely any smell when I cut it. Darker in person. Couldn't believe it. Must have fallen off someone's truck. Totally unsure what to do with it.

Tales&Travels have been knocking it out of the park lately....

Just got 1/8 of closet gremlin and am shocked at how it looks compared to the high dollar brands around here

any other brands you guys liking? I've been primarily smoking GTI Rhythm and NEZ in IL cause that's what I know. I usually get the 710/freshyfine/exotic matter stuff in MI.

looking for an indica that will kill me lmao

just a fun discussion ill have to post pics shortly

Anyone get prescribed gabapentin in addition to Venlafaxine 225mg ER? The psych warned me about serotonin syndrome and ofc that makes me nervous now lol Been on effexor for a decade, it's the only thing that's helped my constant OCD

I know everybody is different, but has anyone given it a shot? I've been white knuckling bad panic the few months and am hoping for relief, started to affect my job and travel :((((

Just want to hear about experiences or thoughts, thanks guys
