Women’s Clothing

Salaam all. I wanted to share something I’ve been struggling with recently and hopefully get some insights. I am 33 years old. I’ve always dressed in long skirts and pants and dresses and at least short sleeves. Recently I’ve become really down about how as Muslim women we are so often overheated in the summer months and while playing sports.

I’m considering more and more taking a more liberal approach to my clothing and wearing things that I don’t consider to be sexual, but things that are just more practical for the heat, like sleeveless tops and mid thigh shorts. I’m honestly just sick of missing out on so many things that I don’t consider bad or harmful because I have to cover up so much.

I believe in the Quranic principle that one should dress modestly for the culture that they are in. I also believe that a lot of the traditional clothing expectations were influenced by the culture of that time period. And lastly, I definitely believe that there is a difference between dressing sexually versus dressing in a way that shows more skin, but is not sexual and is just more practical.

I’m sorry if this offends anyone at all, but I’m just wondering if anyone has had any similar experiences.

Edit: I now have a number of random men DMing me on Reddit to “chat” and “interact.” It just goes to show how disgusting and annoying the patriarchy is within our religious community. Men take a post by a woman wanting to dress practically and not swelter in the heat and make it about them and use it as an opportunity to get interaction from a woman because they see her as free and open to them now. If you are a man, do not DM me. I made this post looking for public insights.

EPIC City

Someone sent me this article on Yasir Qadhi’s EPIC City in DFW. I found it a fascinating read that touches on multiple issues of class, race, capitalism, gender identity, and identity.

Hi all. A friend of mine was talking to me about how Workday stock is down 50% and how Workday will be soon bankrupt as it is the awkward child between Oracle and Salesforce. I work in Workday Integrations. Would you advise me to look for other positions? Does anyone have any recommendation on what jobs I could pivot to? I am really worried because I have focused on Workday Integrations my whole career.

Edit: thank you all for your responses! It sounds like for the near future I am ok. I am als just wondering what would be smart new skills to invest in to diversify a bit just in case. If anyone has any suggestions on that, please let me know!

Is it just me or is Leena coming out of the woodworks starting to link things again? I’m thinking she went on a little bit of a hiatus from that in hopes that people will forget all of her Zionist-supporting links and now she’s thinking it’s been enough time for her to start making some money off of us again.

This girl is consistently posting tone deaf s***. Her country is being destroyed by the US and Israel under the guise of a “liberation.” There is so much she could be educating people on right now, but instead she’s posting her red nails and date nights. Sure she posted a couple things about how sad it is earlier in the war, but come on!

Completely shameful and it makes sense honestly that her and the Asads click so well. She is just as bad if not worse than them.

I can’t post this in her Reddit channel because for some reason that’s highly restricted.
