Home dinner in Shanghai

Home dinner in Shanghai

As traveler, I always crave to taste local food (or curious what locals eat). As you see, in Chinese table (it’s in Shanghai) we can have a mixed of western style and eastern style (look at the baked cheese on the long leg crab, and the fried pork neck).

Wonder if you are curious about dining in a local’s home in China, check out +1 Chopsticks, the first ever home dining platform in China built exclusively for travelers!

Green pea sprouts with shredded fried potato in sweet sour sauce

Continuing our series on tasty Chinese dishes that foreigners might not know…today we introduce Qian Ban Dou Miao (巧拌豆苗). In the northern China, there are less leafy greens (because of the climate), so Dou Miao (or Pea Sprouts) becomes one of the rare, decent greens for the cuisine there.

With shredded potato and the sauce, it can be a refreshing appetizer!

Found this cute creature next to Suzhou Creek

It’s a place called Shenyuli (慎余里), apparently an old alley in Shanghai converted into modern high end restaurant and shopping area

My little one in a beautiful park in Qingpu district

The weather was perfect for a walk so we decided to venture out with our 2.5 month old for the first time! The park is called 赵巷体育公园 (Zhaoxiang Sports Park) and it’s amazingly accessible

To be exact, 5:15am in May. I didn’t expect it to be this bright. Feels like the middle of the day.

Hi travelers! A few months ago we started an initiative to match make travelers with local hosts in Shanghai. You can go to a local’s home and enjoy a home-cooked meal. We have got good feedback so far as these created opportunities and connections that otrhweise wouldn’t happen!

Sandrine and her son joined us for a dumpling night! As an air hostess from Air France, she regularly visits Shanghai. This is her first time bringing her 17 year old son over! She said to me she didn’t want a regular gyg experience so she chose home dining!
