I see quite a few posts from new SLs about how to go about ordering. I've been writing the box for 4 years now & have it down pretty well. I've responded to a few posts but was thinking maybe some are visual learners like me so I thought I'd post a pic & describe my process in hope it helps.

I go by a 3 day average. So we'll take Whole milk, today is Tuesday. I received 4 cases, I have 5 in backstock (what's on the shelf doesn't matter bc it's my buffer zone) for the next 3 days I need 14, 16 & 16 for a total of 46. I have 9 cases on hand for 36 so I'm 10 short of average sales. I'm ordering 3 cases for 12... Now let's say I had 12 on hand then I have enough and wouldn't order any, remember what's on the shelf is the buffer, which for me for whole milk is 5 cases. I repeat this process with every item on my order and very rarely run out of product.

If you're ordering for a holiday (for me we do more in sales rn so I only use as a curiosity sometimes a guide for certain items) if you scroll to the bottom it has a "same week last year" button. Click that and you can see what you sold same time last year. It's great info if your store is getting busier, if you're new and trying to get an idea of sales trends and what we actually sold, also look at the time last sold. If you ran out midday then you know you need to bump that product depending on the difference between that and current sales... Trust the numbers, if you run out of something it's ok, the customer will buy something else or get it next time they're in. It's not the end of the world. Just look at the numbers and adjust by a case and go from there. A lot of times I run out of a product it's an outlier, meaning someone came in and bought 6, 12 of a product we normally sell that in a few days to a week so look out for that. Hope this makes sense and helps you all. Good luck 👊

Anybody remember Herreras burritos in government center in the 90s? They were huge, delicious and like 5 bucks. I'd get 2 at least twice a week, chow down one on the train and save the other for dinner or late night stoner snack. I got a burrito from Santa Fe Burrito recently & it reminded of them.
