Recently, following the many posts and discussions about Odyssey, this subreddit has been extremely active on the subject. With that increased attention, we have also noticed some unusual activity from accounts that seem to have arrived mainly to defend the movie.

To be clear: people defending Odyssey are absolutely welcome. Different opinions are part of what makes a community interesting, and everyone should be free to express their views.

However, after that some accounts have started posting content that has nothing to do with movies, entertainment, or the purpose of this subreddit. Random videos and unrelated posts have started appearing, which feels very different from normal discussion or disagreement. It could be just innocent karma farming.

I usually avoid conspiracy theories, and I’m not claiming to know anyone’s intentions. But the timing and the pattern are certainly unusual. It almost feels like someone could be trying to deliberately flood the subreddit with off-topic content in order to create rule violations and put the community at risk of action from Reddit itself.

Hopefully there is a completely innocent explanation for this (e.g. karma farming), but I thought it was worth bringing up. What do you think? Have you noticed anything similar, or am I reading too much into it?

I was permanently banned because my account was caught in the Reddit spam filter for a controversial comment but the restriction has been lifted today! Thanks again!
