seniors, how will the new ee merger affect cutoffs? 😭💔

hey guys, aiming for ee at mit manipal main campus and could use a quick reality check. right now i’m at a 105/240 in met and 90% in boards pcme. rank predictors are saying this puts me around the 11k rank mark.

i am writing phase 2 to hopefully pull my score up by 15 to 35 marks, which the predictors say should jump me into the 8k to 4k bracket. but with the major branch overhaul happening this year, i honestly don’t know what to expect.

since they’re merging biomedical, vlsi, instrumentation, and cyber physical into a single umbrella ee stream, i went through the collegepravesh seat matrix. if you add up the individual seats of all those branches getting combined, it comes out to a total of 540 seats.

so my main question about the seat matrix is, are they actually keeping that full 540 capacity for the new single ee stream, or is the management reducing the total intake? also how is this going to affect the cutoffs?

all these branches had completely different cutoffs last year, like vlsi was competitive while biomed closed way later. if the total seats stay at 540 under one name, is it going to completely change the ee cutoff or will it stay somewhat stable compared to old eee trends?

basically just want to know what a realistic safe rank is that i should be aiming for in phase 2 to secure a seat in this new setup at main campus. any insights from seniors who actually know the ground reality would be huge.
