Bands like Demolition Hammer

Bands like Demolition Hammer

Anyone know other face meltingly aggressive and heavy bands like Demolition Hammer? Especially stuff off their second album, Epidemic of Violence. Seriously, I've never heard anything that fierce and primal in thrash metal. To be honest, I think they're way more aggressive and heavier than a lot of death metal bands out there.

Albums you wished you had discovered far sooner.

I only heard Watching From A Distance a week ago. Now, I'm depressed because of all the time I didn't know about it.

I want to hear your Non-metal Recommendations

Mods, don’t shoot me. I’ve been into heavy music ever since I was gifted my first CD player. Zia Record Exchange was my second home, where I discovered bands like Celtic Frost, Nevermore, Cryptopsy, Emperor, and Impaled. Heavy metal is an art form with influences drawn from across all music. An example I can think of is “A Forest” by The Cure, which has been covered by artists like Carpathian Forest.

Mainly, I want to hear what everyone has been into outside the realm of heavy music. I wanted to ask because 1: I know how obsessive this community can be, not just over metal, but over music as a whole and 2: I suspect there's unique connections that can be made in musical taste within the metal community. I'll give you one: The album above is Aventine by Agnes Obel. Beautiful and haunting, it has an atmosphere that I think many of you would enjoy.

EDIT: So many incredible recommendations! I can’t respond to everyone, but know that this has become quite the catalog of great music, from classic and chart topping to obscure and avante garde. I can see a lot of overlap between heavy metal the myriad of styles presented here.

Band recs to expand my playlist?

I started listening to metal about 7 months ago maybe and have been wanting to get into more. (I made a post a few months ago). The main bands I listen to are brutal pig, waking the cadaver, peeling flesh, dismembered pig, gore pig, cave mode, phyllomedusa, cabra negra. There are many others also.

I want some that are like these bands and many that aren't. I'm trying to branch out.

I will say though the main genre of music I listen to is death rock and gothic rock and wonder if there's any metal bands that have a sound like that

What is the most technical / progressive groove metal band?

One of my favorite metal subgenres is groove metal, and also I am a huge fan of progressive / technical music in general. (Prog rock, prog metal, tech death, etc)

Is there any band or album that mixes these two things together?

I could name some bands that I think do this pretty well

- machine head sometimes
- lamb of good is probably the most technical groove metal band I can think of. Specially the drumming is insane
- gojira
- fear factory

Also meshuggah, but in my opinion they are more modern djent than the traditional groove metal sound like pantera

Looking for death prog recs

I'm just discovering this genre and I'm having a blast listenning to Inter Arma - Sundown. However, so far i just can't get into their other albums.

Sundown's first track's progression is exactly what i'm looking for. It's starting very grindy and it gradually slows down.

I don't really like their other albums so far. It's too slow for me. And pretty much the same slow riffs for 5 minutes gets old fast for me.

I'd like to find some prog with guttural vocals, fast riffs(for the most part) and very nice drumming.

thanks !

EDIT:
I just google "best death prog band" and randomly listenned to Blood Incantation. That shit bangs ! I think it might be what i'm looking for.

Obscure Album Suggestions

Hello all, I love looking for obscure bands or albums to check out.

Recently, I discovered Cornbugs, which consists of Bucket Head on guitar and Bill Moseley (as Chop Top from Texas Chainsaw Massacre) on vocals.

I am looking for more recommendations of random, obscure metal bands to check out. If anyone has suggestions, please post them here!

Looking for death metal that sounds like a hot, swampy Florida summer

I'm looking for death metal that perfectly captures that oppressive, humid summer heat, the kind of music that feels like you're trudging through a Florida swamp in 100-degree weather.

The best way I can describe it is imagining being a character in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. That sense of dread, isolation, and pure brutality baking under the sun. Bands like Fulci and Mortician nail this feeling for me.

What bands give you that same vibe? Would love some recommendations.

Help remembering a band name

I'm trying to find a record that came out a few years ago. It had 3 long tracks and was a mix of disso black, doom and death. Very unique sound, punishing proggy dissonance. I believe they were a doom band before this record and took a left turn into avant garde weirdness.

I wanna say it was released in 2024 or early 25. I think the cover was blue and dark purple, but that could be me confusing it.

Anyone think of it?

Looking for some brutal death metal like Decapitated - Winds of Creation

I'm a big black metal fan, but my death metal knowledge is pretty lacking. I really enjoy that late 90's/00s brutal death metal sound with killer riffs and relentless aggression like old Decapitated, Hate Eternal, Vital Remains, etc.

Anyone got some killer death metal that matches that vibe? No grind/gore/slam please. Not interested.

Slayer - 1986 - Reign In Blood - Angel Of Death

Slayer - 1986 - Reign In Blood - Angel Of Death

Auschwitz, the meaning of pain

The way that I want you to die

Slow death, immerse decay

Showers that cleanse you of your life

Forced in

Like cattle you run

Stripped off

Your life's worth

Human mice for the Angel Of Death

Four hundred thousand more to die

Angel Of Death

Monarch to the kingdom of the dead

Sadistic surgeon of demise

Sadist of the noblest blood

Destroying, without mercy

To benefit the aryan race

Surgery, with no anesthesia

Feel the knife pierce you intensely

Inferior, no use to mankind

Strapped down screaming out to die

Angel Of Death

Monarch to the kingdom of the dead

Infamous butcher

Angel Of Death

Pumped with fluid, inside your brain

Pleasure in your skull begins pushing through your eyes

Burning flesh drips away

Test of heat burns your skin

Your mind start to boil

Frigid cold cracks your limbs

How long can you last

In the frozen water burial

Sewn together joining heads

Just a matter of time 'till you rip yourself apart

Millions laid out in their

Crowded tombs

Sickening way to achieve

The holocaust

Seas of blood, bury life

Smell of death as it burns

Deep inside of you

Abominate, eyes that bleed

Playing for the end of your wide awake nightmare

Wings of pain reach out for you

His face of death staring down,

Your blood running cold

Injecting cells, dying eyes

Feeding on the screams of

The mutants he's creating

Pathetic harmless victims

Left to die

Rancid Angel Of Death

Flying free
