Hip Flexor (Tensor Fascia Latae) Goes Numb 75% into my Tempo Session
Everytime I do up-tempo running sessions of lets say 40mins, at around 30min mark my right hip flexor numbs gradually to the point where I can barely move my leg joint, and begin to hop or skip with my left leg just to finish the session.
Some red flags I notice that my hip flexor will give out is around the 15min mark, my right obliques will start to side stitch (my guess is the Psoas minor and major muscle which is the muscle attached from the obliques upto the pelvis is pulled and retracted so much it begins to fatigue and hurt). I guess since the stride is longer on tempo runs, maybe some nerves or muscles aren’t as flexible and that my right Tensor Fascis Latae goes numb and it makes my right leg immobile.
I hate this feeling because my legs, breathing and heart rate are still on track, but all my focus and energy is exerted on maintaining my right leg landing and stride, because it breaks so fast once my fascia begins to numb, my whole leg will begin to numb and its so hard to swing them back and forth.
Im confused why it only happens on my right leg, as it is my dominant leg and I can uni-laterally apply more weight and reps on the right leg whenever i do strength training. I can even feel my fascia to be physically bigger on my right leg.
And yes, I do alot of stretching before running especially my hip flexors.
Im hoping someone who can relate can comment on what their experience is and how they fixed it.
