Torn between a 2022 BMW X7 and a 2022 Mercedes GLS450 4MATIC - help me decide!

Looking to buy a used luxury SUV for daily commuting (~1 hour each way, mostly city driving). Budget is around $70K. I’ve test driven both and genuinely like them. Here’s where I’m at:

Option 1 — 2022 BMW X7 xDrive40i
• ~39,000 km
• Asking price: $69,900 (no discount applied yet, room to negotiate)
• Black on Black, Vernasca leather, Sky Lounge panoramic sunroof
• Sold by a Porsche dealership (got it as a trade-in) - NOT a CPO
• Third-party extended warranty offered: 36 months/60,000 km - $4,950
• GAP insurance: $2,499
• Financing: 84 months @ 7.18%
• I have a trade-in with ~$6,200 in negative equity being rolled in
• Planning ~$5,000 cash down → roughly $613 bi-weekly

Option 2 — 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS450 4MATIC
• ~58,100 km
• Asking price: $72,900 (also at MSRP, slight room to negotiate)
• Polar White on Black leather, Star Certified (MB’s CPO program)
• Premium, Technology, Night & Intelligent Drive packages included
• Extended Limited Warranty (Mercedes ELW, up to 160,000 km, $0 deductible): $6,510
• GAP: $999
• Financing: 84 months @ 7.99% (might be lower)
• Lower trade-in value, ~8,400 negative equity rolled in
• ~$9,000 down (includes $4,000 dealer discount) → roughly $640 bi-weekly

My main concerns:
1. The BMW has significantly fewer kms but no CPO backing - buying a BMW from a Porsche dealer feels slightly risky, though the car checks out and I like it
2. The Mercedes IS CPO with a strong manufacturer warranty, but has 20K more kms and costs more overall
3. I commute heavily in the city - reliability and comfort over the long haul matter more to me than anything else
4. I haven’t fully negotiated either deal yet
Has anyone owned either of these? Any reliability gotchas I should know about with the 2022 X7 or GLS450? And is buying a used BMW from a non-brand dealership a red flag?
Thanks in advance!
