How many pro golfers to beat a top level sprinter?
The sprinter starts 300 yards away and must run straight at the golfers. The golfers get clubs and balls and have to physically stop the runner with golf balls. The golfer has as many balls as they need, the runner needs to touch a golfer to win. How many golfers will you need to stop the runner?
Paysan
Released in 2019, the Paysan is the second collaboration with legendary knife maker Peter Rassenti. The Paysan features a one piece, integral titanium handle and hollow ground s90v blade. It is also the most expensive Spyderco produced with an MSRP of $800.
Lava
The Lava was released in 2006 and stayed in production until 2009. The original run was stainless with VG10 steel. It was released as a sprint with this beautiful blue g10 in 2013. The rarest version would be the stainless 2006 forum edition which featured a special engraving on the scales. This is a beautiful and quirky little knife everyone needs to hold to truly appreciate.
Jot Singh Khalsa
This knife was produced from 1997-1999 and was designed by the Sikh designer of the same name. The blade is made of Gin-1/G2 steel supposedly tempered to 58-60Rc. I know Spyderco is usually on point with testing, I’d love to get some actual data. It features black micarta scales that are absolutely beautiful in person and pinned construction. It was available in both plain edge and spyderedge as pictured here. It was rereleased in October of 2013 in a 1200 piece sprint run which featured g-10 scales and VG10 steel. This is a very quirky design and one of the only spyderco knives I own I think would benefit if it didn’t have a front choil. Choking up on the blade puts the thumb too far forward in relation to the blade hump. Still, this is a wonderfully beautiful knife I wish we could see hit the catalog again.
I snapped a driveshaft but man I’m still loving this little truck!
Spyderco Salsa
This is my well loved Salsa. They were first released back in 2002 and kicked off the line of “little big knives”. Its run from 2002-2004 was short, but the knife ended up getting 12 total releases. The most popular release is arguable the Ti version with integral compression lock and ATS-34 steel. This one is the blue aluminum with AUS-8 steel.
Spyderco Starmate
The first Starmate was released in 1999 when I was 3. It featured CPM 440V steel and was designed by the legendary Bob Terzuola, the godfather of the tactical knife. The Starmate was then discontinued in 2002 and has since had two sprint runs. This one, featuring 20CV steel and a hollow grind, and a variant in VG-10 with a sabre grind. Both sprints were limited to roughly 1200 pieces.
Burch Chubby
Introduced in 2014, this knife has a hollow ground s30v blade with a stock thickness of 0.175”. This thick stock makes the knife seem much larger than you would originally think while the hollow grind keeps thickness behind the edge nice and low.
Here is most of my collection. I’ve got 44 titles and I’m still running my first ever ps2 slim a few decades after purchase. Ask me anything about my game and please recommend some new ones you’d think I would like!
