Quick question about elision in this sentence:

"Plerumque eum non animadvertunt; cum tamen animadvertunt, [...]."

Is it okay to omit "eum" in the second clause? I already added "tamen" to convey the English discourse meaning of "[but] when they DO [notice him]".

"et" or "-que" in this context?

Consider this sentence:

Modo unam novarum lucernarum ultraviolacearum e cavea removi et eam vetere lucerna ultraviolacea, quae solum calorem emittit, substitui.

It means, "I just removed a UV-lamp from the cage and replaced it with an old UV lamp which emits only warmth". I hope that's what it means, anyway.

My question is, should I write "...eamque vetere lucerna [...] substitui" or "et eam vetere lucerna [...] substitui"?

What is going on

Hey all

I am watching Markiplier's playthrough of Subnautica 2 and am now at ep 3. He's just found the flooded base and listened to messages like "The kids deserve a chance to live!"

It is probably my own fault, but I am not understanding any of the lore that we've gotten from the black box logs so far. Would anyone care to explain?

How to come up with roots, affixes, and endings?

Noob here.

I wanted to create a conlang completely from scratch. I am planning to derive words from roots. But how, exactly? For instance, how is part of speech expressed? Right now I'm leaning toward it being expressed by an affix, though this would not always be necessary, for instance when there's another affix that clearly makes it a noun already.

And does one come up with the sounds of such morphemes randomly? Just pick what sounds nice? Or is there a method often used?

Double e ligature?

Hello everyone,

I am working on a conorthography or sorts and need a ligature of the double e -- basically just two e's joined together. I am pretty sure it does not exist, though. Does anyone have such a character I could copy paste? Preferably both upper- and lowercase. Thanks!
