Just moved into a house with the awesome old playground. the fort is extremely sturdy still. I’ve inspected the wood, and other than being dirty, it’s still in pretty good shape. EXCEPT the two posts going Into the ground on the left and right side. They are loose in the ground (no concreted was poured) and where they meet the ground they’ve started to rot.
i have zero DIY experience beyond painting. Do y’all think this is a job for a handyman, or should it be my first foray into DIY? Leaning towards hiring someone for the posts, then cleaning, sanding, staining the rest on my own.
Need a sanity check though.
Also, anyone know what would be a ballpark for replacing two posts and pouring concrete in the Central Texas area?
Moved into a new house a couple weeks ago. We have a pest control service and they (not that they needed to tell me) identified this old pile of (now thanks to rain) damp wood against the fence as something that needs to go. My yard guy hauled some of it, but I was pulling a couple logs and saw this bug. Almost certain it’s a termite. It is maybe 10 feet from my house. House is stucco on a concrete slab, in an area with lots of limestone underground. No signs of termites in house, no mud tubes, alongside foundation. It’s been inspected by pest control — once during inspection three months ago, and once about a month ago with my current service.
My issue now is what do I do? I don’t want to remove the wood pile only for them to go to my house or fence. Should I get it removed and coordinate with pest control to spray something? Thanks for any advice, this is scary for a new homeowner!
I know the pics are blurry, I snapped it quickly, then couldn’t find the bastard.
