My 1.5-year-old male cat came home with a fresh open wound on his side/flank today. I'm quite certain it happened within the previous 30 minutes because I had seen him shortly before without any injury. I took him to a vet immediately. The vet wasn't sure what caused it (fight, sharp object, etc.). The wound was not cleaned or sutured. He prescribed Cephalexin 600 mg, 1/5 tablet once daily for 5 days. My cat is eating, drinking, walking normally, and is alert, but he reacts with pain when the area is touched.
