ideaPad Duet 5 — cracked screen removed, now no POST/boot at all (green LED + brief cam flicker, then dies)

Duet 5 came in with a cracked (non-laminated) screen. While diagnosing, I removed the screen entirely to inspect the LCD — panel itself looks fine under backlight, no deformities or dead spots, so the crack seems limited to the outer glass/digitizer.

Problem is the board itself won't POST. Behavior:

  • Battery connected + power button pressed → green LED, camera flickers on for a split second, then shuts off. No image on an external monitor either.
  • Confirmed this happens the same way with the screen cable fully disconnected, so the screen/cable isn't the cause.
  • Reseated the battery connector — no change.
  • Tried powering with no battery, USB-C only → continuous red blink (assuming this is just a "no battery detected" charging fault, not a real error code).
  • Tried both USB-C ports powered simultaneously with battery connected → continuous red blink again.
  • Single USB-C port + battery → back to the original green LED + cam flicker, then dies.

So it seems like it's attempting to boot but failing very early and consistently at the same point, regardless of screen being connected.

Has anyone run into this exact pattern before? Trying to figure out if this points to a PMIC/charging IC fault, a bad battery cell, or something else before I decide whether to keep chasing it or just part it out. Any known reset procedures or diagnostic LED codes specific to this board would help too.
