5lbs of Habaneros

Hi all, i have seen similar posts but my neighbor just dumped another 5 lbs of peppers in my lap and I’m running out of things to do with them. I’ve made cooked hot sauce, fermented hot sauce, pikliz, garlic pepper sauce, habanero jam, fridge pickled peppers and red onions, soon a peach habanero jam as well when the extra jars arrive. Any other ideas?

Pepper/Garlic Sauce

Had some leftover scotch bonnet/yellow habs from my pikliz and a ton of garlic. Decided on a milder garlicky ferment. I hate wasting peppers. 4% salt brine. And away she goes! Should be good and different from my normal style fermented hot sauces.

Keep or Upgrade?

I currently own 3 Subarus.one is our daily, one is the turbo project and one is the station car. I work on all of them myself but the cvt has me spooked. The 4EAT has never let me down in all the 10+ subarus ive owned. Our daily is a 2017 forester NA limited with 93k. We barely put 5k on it in a couple years since wife and i wfh. The car was my aged mothers and i bought it off of them for 10k a couple years back as an upgrade from our 2010. I know the complete history of the car and the dealership stating the cvt was lifetime fluid was expressly stated when my mother purchased it new, obviously that theory is now out the window. When i took ownership i quickly did a cvt service to cover myself. But 5k miles later and im still spooked.

Should i trade it in ( its worth about the same i paid for it) for a newer used low mileage car or roll the dice w the cvt? I hear they start acting up after 100-125k miles.

The newer cars have me spooked too as they have that stupid electronic thermostat, what a terrible idea subaru had getting away from the mechanical thermostats. i hear they started going back to the traditional thermostats starting in 2025.

Future thinking…ive never owned a hybrid but I hear the transmissions on the hybrids arent build by nissan but by toyota which would put a warm and fuzzy feeling in my gut.

Thoughts?

TLDR: gamble with aging cvt or upgrade to newer low mile hybrid?

TIA 😎

Possible leak?

Hi all, long time lurker and commenter but never made a post. Take it easy on me with spelling and bad punctuation.

Pool is 20x40 in-ground with about 8.5’ deep end. Vinyl liner. Calculates out to about 25k gallons.

Hayward aquarite, hayward DE filter, starite variable speed pump, heater present but disconnected. Pool is new to me as of 2017, the previous home owner put it in the early 2000’s. Liner replaced maybe 12 years ago, looks pretty good except the bottom being faded. I converted it to salt for my wife’s allergies in 17.
Water is always perfect except when being opened in the spring.

I had a storm branch puncture the liner during a flash hurricane during early covid, nice gash in the worst spot, in the corner where the it meets the floor on the shallow end. Since then ive been losing sleep every summer about water loss.

I repatched my original patch recently, leaked checked before and after, no issues. Go around all the seems, jets and skimmers with the dye syringe yearly. Cant stay under long enough to check main drain(im a floater).

How much water do these pools lose due to evaporation? Pool hovers around low 80s but creeps up to mid 80s when its 90+ out. Without use Im losing maybe 1/2-3/4 a day and im wondering if im chasing a ghost. I live at sea level in the northeast if that matters, i feel like im always topping off the pool weekly.

TIA

TLDR - how much daily water loss during warm weather. Driving me crazy chasing leaks that might not exist.
