I am a beginner at Shogi, and am playing on Lishogi, Shogi Wars, as well as 81Dojo. I practice mainly against AI, but enjoy playing real people more.

I come from western chess, and it’s been surprisingly difficult to get my mind out of the trade down to simplify the board mindset.

This style of play seems to feed your opponent powerful pieces and opens you up to many drop attacks.

I’ve been switching to a more patient, structured system and have had success but am wondering if anyone has any advice they can share with me.
