Why are we so quiet? Say his name— Lorenzo Salgado Araujo!

This post is part vent and part reconnection.

Serious Minnesota what happened!?!

We were on the world stage— we made headlines, we were even nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Why the fuck are we so quiet? The whole nation (even other nations) stood with us during our protest against the fascist takeover know as “Metro Surge.” We have since pipe down— why because their political theater ended? Ten thousand detained over the Fourth of July— a working class, family man killed by ICE, record numbers of detention center death, federal trials for organizers & activists. Why are we still so quiet?

I understand many of us had to return to our regular lives. But why does it feel like we gave up. With midterm elections coming up you would think organizers would be canvassing more.

Perhaps it is just me… perhaps I am the problem and just haven’t been as tapped with my communities and organization. I’m just so frustrated and sad.

Vent: So Many Awful Coworkers

I’m (28m) to this industry. But holy fuck— I do not think I have ever experienced such an awful job mainly because of members on the staff (nurses and fellow techs). I’m an Emergency Room Technician— who rotates on a day/overnight schedule (3 weeks day, then the latter) I have had very few bad experiences on the night crew. But holy fuck can the day crew piss off. I don’t know if it’s racism because I’m Latino (white passing mind you) or because people just choose to have a petty grudge against me (this is the Midwest after all where passive aggressiveness is the status quo). I don’t believe I am that bad at my job and have more positive experiences with patients than I do the staff.

I have worked in warehouses and kitchens— I have worked with literal nazis, and I would take them over the day crew any day. I have felt ostracized since the moment I have arrived. Also it does seem like a very isolated indent with me— they seem to be more excepting off fellow tech who started around the same time as me who come from a more similar socioeconomic and racial background.

I just really needed to get that off my chest since I feel like I have no one I really can say that too.
