Biggest regret on your first toon?

Mine was when I was still going through Daisy's Garden I believe around maybe 40ish laff.

I saw the Sellbot Field Offices every now and then and thought:
"Since they are showing me these around this area, maybe I could do one?"

(Note this was around the new UNM update)

So when I saw three toons by one (mind you its like high laff and gag toons, though dunno what star the FO was), I decided to ask to join.

Now this is where I should of have been stopped, but somehow, they let me come with them.

You should have seen my face when on the first floor there was:
High leveled Cogs

I only had three gags to start out with (Throw, Sound and I think maybe Drop. I only was able to use Throw and Sound)

And got sad before even the 3rd round.

I still feel bad about to this day, I had zero reason to be in at all.

When trying to Run Map, it opens the Compile tab for a moment before it aborts itself?

No I don't have 'Don't run game after compiling'. on

It seems to not compile any of my maps anymore today and i'm not sure what is causing this to happen.

How to get a ai_goal_actbusy to work with its info_hint_node?

[For HL2 EP2]
Goal: Trying to have a citizen crouch down at it

I have my info_hint_node have its Hint as "World: Act Busy Hint", while the ai_goal_actbusy has the actor/npc set, but for the info_hint_node's Hint Activity is what i'm having trouble with.

I had it with a animation name crouch_aim_smg1, and when that did not work has it as Crouch Cover Low

None worked, even when I had a logic_auto force the npc to act busy.

Thoughts about my first time making a Cog head?

Decided to try a go at Blender and Texture Painting within it for my first time.

He does look very odd since there is almost no shading on him, but I tried to shade where I thought made sense.

Can't compile my Lost Coast map.

Whenever I try to compile my map through Lost Coast config.

How do I config HL2 Lost Coast into Hammer++?

I already made the name of the game config as "Half-Life 2: Lost Coast" but I can't figure out what I need to put into the Game Data files, Game Executable Dirctory, ect.

Do I have to config Hammer for HL2: LC or does HL2: LC has its assets already in HL2?

As the title says. I was thinking about doing a modfication to the map in Lost Coast, but im not sure if I have to make the game directory so Hammer knows where to finds assets or HL2 already has them in the game.

We may have all graduated, but there is still that one person in that container left.

If you did not know. In Make it To Midnight, there is still someone left banging inside a green container. And since (In my mind) everyone around the Campus is gone and not coming back... that one person still locked in there is screwed.

How can I make a sort of shield thing for npcs?

I wanted the npc to have a shield covering them, were they can shoot the player through it, but the player cant shoot back at them through it. So far I only got it to were the player cant shoot through it, but the npc wont shoot at the player through it.

Edit: I manage to make one using a func_phys (not what it is now in the image) and had it parented to the npc and in the right spot for the npcs to shoot at the place. While the npc can still get hit in certain areas, its what I wanted

The nerve to put this out AFTER the game closes on the same day

This gotta be on purpose, they knew Rec Room was going down and on the same day of it doing so put this out to try their best to nab players into their platform.

Edit: I get that this seems really childish, and thinking about it now it pretty much is. But I personally see this as very scummy thing they did.

Edit 2: After hearing more of what you all thought. I can accept this being like a welcome. Like the first edit, this post is childish, and I took it the wrong way and too personal. I'm glad I heard what you all thought : )

What are some lessons to expect from playing GOI?

After seeing tons and tons and tons of videos about this game, I went and bought it and so far got to the box section in a fair bit of time

I want to know from you all some lessons I should expect from playing a game like this.

Some I have thought of are:

  1. Patience: I know I can and, somewhere by luck, will fall down again and again, and to keep trying.

  2. Time makes perfect: Despite falling, it will let me get better and better at moving with the hammer.

Issue with custom sounds not working in map.

So I been trying to have two custom sounds pack for an addon, and they don't work.

I currently have them in my: Half-Life 2/hl2/sound/custom .
They work after compiling the map
I used either VIDE or CompilePalX for packing

And going to the spot gives me this in the Console:

What is a good packing program that actually packs custom sound?

I had used VIDE and CompilePalX, moved my custom wav sound into ep2/sound/custom, just in ep2/sound, and so far will not work in my uploaded map (even after updating).

Any tips?
