The Meaning of Ignotus Peverell's Name

Sharing this because it just struck me that some people might have missed it, but the name 'Ignotus' is actually just the past passive participle of the Latin verb ignosco, meaning 'pardon', 'forgive', or even 'overlook' or 'take no notice (of)'. (So the PPP literally translates to 'having been overlooked')

Hence, 'Ignotus' Peverell is the brother who, thanks to his invisibility cloak, was overlooked by Death until the time came wherein he could greet him as an old friend.

Fun fact thought someone might appreciate and I could put my Latin to good use lol

What is the name for the circular part covering the shoulder?

I know absolutely nothing about armour, I'm sorry, but what word would be used to refer to the greenish-blue circular piece on the shoulder in this picture? I know it's probably not a realistic 'set' of armour, but I need to know how to refer to it as something other than a 'shoulder pad'. TIA!

Just finished Remarkably Bright Creatures, looking for something similar?

As the title suggests, I've recently read Remarkably Bright Creatures (and just seen the film too), and I really liked it. I think the things I liked best about it were the small scale of the action, I think Tova's character was so endearing, I liked the mystery, and I also liked that there was no smut lol - that's not quite my cup of tea.

Any other recs that are similar to these things I liked best about this book?
