I pitched an ‘Xbox Achievement Awards and Tiered Loyalty Program’ concept to Player Voice. Would you use it?

I grew up on Xbox chasing achievements and watching my Gamerscore climb. That number has always felt like more than stats. It is my history as a player.

I finally did something with that obsession.

I submitted an “Xbox Achievement Awards and Tiered Loyalty Program” concept to Xbox Player Voice, a player first awards and loyalty system built on achievements and Gamerscore.

The idea is:

• Real world trophies and plaques for big Gamerscore milestones

• Tier levels that reflect years of play

• Digital perks and recognition for players who have been here grinding for a long time

This is not about free rewards. It is about being seen, and about Xbox honoring the time and passion players have already invested into the ecosystem.

If you care about achievements and Gamerscore, I would really appreciate a read, a vote, or feedback:

(Link can be buggy, but if you go on Xbox Player Voice and search “Xbox Achievement Awards and Tiered Loyalty Program” it should pop up.)

Critical Altitude – adult medical aviation thriller / romantic suspense – Available on Kindle Unlimited

The patient comes first. The crew comes home. The truth comes last.

Critical Altitude is a gritty medical aviation thriller with slow burn romantic tension, about a flight crew caught between corporate pressure and the cost of telling the truth after a deadly crash.

Flight paramedic Liv Pruitt knows how to keep her hands steady when everything else is falling apart. Bad weather, bad calls, bad choices. She can live with all of it as long as the crew comes home.

Then a new flight physician climbs aboard her aircraft with a clipboard, a contract, and questions Liv does not want asked. Dr. Boone Mercer was sold to the crew as a clinical upgrade. Liv reads him as a corporate problem, right up until the night his judgment saves a patient she might have lost.

When a company helicopter goes down in conditions no pilot should have accepted, the official story is too clean. Maintenance logs read perfect. Schedules read legal. The dead read inconvenient. Now Liv, her partner Kate, her pilot Jordan, and the man she is not supposed to trust have to decide what the truth is worth. Telling it could ground them all. Staying quiet could bury someone they love.
Critical Altitude is an adult medical aviation thriller about pressure, loyalty, found family, slow burn tension, and doing the right thing when the system depends on silence.

Tropes / elements:

• found family flight crew
• competence porn and procedural detail
• forced proximity / coworkers to something more
• corporate coverup and whistleblowing
• survival, weather, and mountain flying
• trauma, loyalty, and second chances

Content warnings:

• On-page medical emergencies and graphic injury
• Helicopter crash, discussion of air medical fatalities
• Workplace trauma, grief, and PTSD themes

The Hollow Holds

It is a small town Appalachian witch thriller about a TBI agent who comes home to a hollow full of old secrets and new ritual murders. Fresh off his own injury and not sure he trusts his brain, he has to untangle church politics, family grudges, and the truth about the woman everyone calls a witch to figure out who is killing people and what, exactly, is haunting the hills.

If you like slow burn, character driven horror with crime, grief, and strange faith mixed in, this might be your thing. The Hollow Holds is book one of an ongoing series and is available now in KU.

If you read it, I would always be grateful for an honest review.

The Velvet Chapel – Gothic sapphic horror romance – Available on Kindle Unlimited

1–3 line pitch:

Two grieving women meet at a decaying rural chapel in northern England and fall into an obsession that blurs the line between devotion and damnation. It is a Gothic sapphic horror romance, with candlelit rituals, buried secrets, and heat that turns dangerous.

Blurb:

At the edge of a quiet English town stands a small chapel that no one attends anymore, except the people who cannot stay away. When Verity Hargreaves, still reeling from loss and scandal, begins visiting the chapel to outrun her grief, she meets Lady Rosamund Bramwell, a woman who seems to understand exactly what the darkness inside that place can offer.

What starts as shared solace twists into something far more consuming as the two women are drawn deeper into each other and into whatever still lives beneath the chapel’s worn wooden floor. As their desire intensifies, so do the visions, the whispering nights, and the sense that the land itself is watching.

The Velvet Chapel is a Victorian Gothic sapphic horror romance about faith, hunger, and the terrible beauty of being truly seen.

List of tropes and elements:

• Gothic horror romance
• Sapphic and queer protagonists
• Obsession and mutual ruin
• “Is it haunting or is it in their heads?”
• Isolated country estate and chapel in northern England
• High heat scenes with a dark emotional tone

Trigger warnings:

• Grief and bereavement
• Religious trauma and imagery
• Cult abuse and coercive supernatural influence
• Blood and mild body horror
• Child endangerment in a horror context
• Mentions of self destructive thoughts and behaviors
• Explicit sexual content between consenting adults
• Power imbalance and emotionally unhealthy relationship dynamics

Debut Gothic sapphic horror romance: The Velvet Chapel (Kindle & KU)

Hey everyone,

I just published my debut novel, The Velvet Chapel, and I’m nervously excited to finally share it with people who actually love reading.

It’s a Gothic sapphic horror romance set around an old chapel on a Kentucky farm, with:

• slow‑burn tension that turns very explicit
• grief, faith, and obsession themes
• creepy rural atmosphere, candles, and lots of stormy nights

If you like dark romance with horror elements, messy queer characters, and a little bit of “I probably shouldn’t want this, but I do,” this might be your thing.
The ebook is available on Kindle and in Kindle Unlimited, and there’s a paperback coming too.

I’m especially hungry for honest reviews and feedback right now, so if you pick it up and it hits (or misses) for you, I’d really appreciate you telling me why.

Thanks for taking a look,

A.L. Ferguson
